My brother wants to take his son to Westervelt lodge as a graduation gift. We hunted there several times close to 40 years ago. Does anyone have any info on how it is today? Or do you recommend any other hunts in Alabama.
Thanks!

Expensive but worthwhile.

Thomas Jefferson. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Life is too short to only hunt and fish on weekends!

If being a dumbass was fatal some of you would be on your death bed!

It's in a good area. I'd go, for sure.

I've been to Westervelt several times, all for turkey hunts. I've also been to Bent Creek three times, again for turkey hunts. Since my hunts were not for deer, I can't speak for that. What I can tell you is the atmosphere, accommodations, friendliness of staff (for the most part), and care taken of the hunter at Westervelt is much better than what we experienced at Bent Creek. I can only speak for those 2 places in-state. As for the "friendliness of staff", some of the guys at Bent Creek were very friendly, Bob Walker and Scott among them. There were others that acted as if they didn't care is you were there or not.

Off topic but Bob told me during turkey season he was through guiding with Bent Creek. He's too busy and is changing direction. Nothing to do with Bent Creek.
