Yall.bookmark this post. Barring injury he will be THE BEST QB in Au history. Baker Mayfield-esqe but quicker. He had the fastest 10 yard run on team ( Swatrz, Shivers track, hasting didnt run). But faster then any other player on team. He aint TUA but he will probably be as close as Auburn ever gets to a QB that is generational.. Obviously Cam was diff and generational but not your typical QB.. CAM was CAM. Bo without injury will have a statue also.

Nope, sorry, just looked at their schedule again and they have a solid 6 loss year, maybe in Nix they just won't lose by as many points each game. I really just can't understand why AU is getting any hype at this point because they will likely be irrelevant until Malzahn is out of the picture, then they will be rebuilding for 2-3 years, so I would just assume not even hear about AU until the year 2023, except the week that UGA comes a calling.

I know it has been quite a while since we all last saw a live football game, but you need to remember the rules and recognize the chain of command. 257 is the offically recognized Aldeer bully of Phil and unless you asked for 257's permission to slap Phil like that, you violated offical aldeer bully protocol.

I dont know about y'all but I cannot wait for football to officially kick off. As a non-AU fan my honest take and evaluation on Nix's situation: As far as Nix goes, the kid has exhibited talent up until this point in his career but there are a whole lot of guys that exhibited a ton of talent and ruled the high school ranks but never could make the transition to becoming spectacular or even a remotely decent QB in a college program. Jeff Driskell (5 star) at Florida is a prime example. Everyone was certain he was going to set the world on fire. BUST. Looking a little closer to home there's 5 star, high school superstar Mitch Mustain that went to Arkansas. Unbelievable HS numbers and success, the great Gus himself was his HS coach by the way. Total bust, totally unprepared and ineffective at the div 1 level and only ended up throwing for 1,000 yds in his entire college career after tranferring a couple times.

IMO, it will be hard for Nix to be successful, simply because he will not be following an upperclassman that he can learn from for a year or two as his body matures in a college weight room. He is being asked to take the reins and lead a team of upperclassmen straight out of high school in the toughest conference in college football which is a tall task to ask of any 18 yr old kid. Good news is Gus runs a HS level offense which will make it easier on Nix. Bad news is that Gus does not have a clue how to develop talent and runs a HS level offense. Maybe Nix can do it and be successful but having Gus as a coach could end up being very detrimental to his development. Nix has the size, athleticism, football intelligence but only time will tell.

I don't know if he will be great or not. Odds favor him not being great just like 100 other freshman QBs coming out of HS. Then there is the jump in defensive talent. Then the speed of the game. BUT, what he has no other QB has is the pressure from a coach at a major college relying on him to save his coaching career. A coach who has never developed a HS QB and only limited success with a Caucasian QB. Time will tell but he has a lot overcome for a freshman.

On the flip side, sometimes these freshman aren't smart enough to know all these things are on them. They just play ball and do well.

I personally think Auburn beats Oregon by 10+. I also think the best thing for this QB and everything Auburn would be a hard fought game, few mistakes, trail at halftime by 10, and come back in the 2nd half and win by 14. That will mentally do a lot for this QB. We will know in a little over 8 days.

You'd better be glad that you scored on that audible or you'd be riding the pine and running gassers at practice for the next two weeks.

The kid is a baller for sure. One thing that really put it into perspective for me was watching him throw 5 touchdowns in the first round of the playoffs as an 8th grader. As the dad of a current 8th grader, that alone showed me how talented Nix is. No way in hades my 8th grader would ever see the field, much less tie a 60 year old Scottsboro high school record. He’s already shown that he can manage the game as an underclassman to the other players. I wish him well.

The kid was going to start the moment he faxed the letter in.The Gatewood kid is no slouch,but Nix has more football smarts than any Auburn qb since Sullivan.If they don't light it up,it won't be on him...
