Who is cross dominant? I am right handed and left eye dominant. I am finally committing to training myself to point my shotgun left-handed. Has anyone else had to re-learn shouldering a shotgun bc of this and did it help in accuracy?

Left handed and right eye dominant. I grew up shooting in scouts and stuff, but not that much. One day I was shooting with my neighbor and he asked if I ever checked my eye dominance, when we figured it out and switched, my accuracy improved greatly. But again, I hadn't been shooting for years so I didn't really have it "beaten" into me or anything, I think that helped me switch.

I am right handed and left eye dominant. I did not realize that was the case until DEADorALIVE watched me shooting one day and figured it out. I tried to correct the eye dominance thing first but that was way more difficult for me than just learning to shoot left handed.

When 'Huntress was learning to shoot, using a scoped rifle, I couldn't believe how far off target she was with a scope I knew good and well was zeroed almost perfectly. Even slight differences in vision couldn't account for how far off she was hitting. Finally, I started watching her instead of the target, while she was shooting...she was shouldered right handed, but crossing the stock to bring her left eye into alignment with the scope. I pointed the "error" out to her, and she corrected, and started missing the paper entirely! If she didn't consciously force herself, she'd be right back to using her left eye again! I tried covering her left eye to force her to use her right eye, but since she was just learning how to shoot, she/we decided it would be easier to learn to shoulder left handed. She was immediately back on target and accurate. Everything she does is right handed, except shooting long guns, now. Shotgun or rifle, shouldering right handed feels alien and "unright" to her, so those she shoots (effectively, I might add) left handed. Interestingly, using a left-handed rifle also feels alien and unright to her!...she's used to sighting/shooting left handed, but still cycles the bolt right handed! I thought she would have an issue shooting semi-autos like that, but they seem to pretty consistently throw the brass right over her right shoulder!

I'm right handed but left eye dominant. Have never considered changing the way I shoulder a gun.

I do not have a dominant eye. I shoot long guns lefthanded I shoot handguns right handed. I can throw with either hand and write with either hand (both looks likes chicken scratch).

Right handed, left eye dominant.

Shoot handguns both eyes open, lined up with left eye, close left eye for shotguns and rifles.

Right handed left eye dominant, I can't look thru a scope with my right eye and can't close my left eye by itself. Shoot guns and bow left handed. Kinda came natural

I really don’t have a dominant eye either. I can shoulder a gun both right and left handed without issue. I swing a golf club right handed and a baseball batt left handed.

I’m right handed left eye dominant and have always shot right handed. Back in my competitive archery career I messed around with a couple of left hand bows but never made the switch because of the Buckmasters Top Bow shoot. In that one you have to be able to shoot and load quickly. I just couldn’t get used to it. Back then I could pull the same weight left or right handed. I broke my neck in 2009 and now I’m a lot weaker on my left side. Doubt I could pull 40 to 45# left handed.

I shoot a handgun right handed and aim with my left eye.

Interesting that most of the leftys here are right eye dominant. I am, and like the others, I write and eat left handed but do everything else right handed, I figured I was alone in that.

Right handed, left eye dominant. I was somewhat ambidextrous growing up though. Mainly do everything right handed now

Something weird happened to me at work the other day. I’m right handed, but was somewhat ambidextrous growing up (so was Travis, maybe more so than I was) anyway, I had something that happened real quick that I needed to write down. I grabbed the pen and began writing. About halfway through my note I realized I was using my left hand. I switched to my right hand...like Deadeye, both hands look like chicken scratch anyways.

I’m right handed but left eye dominant. The very first time I shouldered a gun as a young fella dad said boy what’s wrong with you, put that gun on your right shoulder. The result was horrible accuracy and he said ok go back to how you were shooting. I’ve always shot guns left handed as well as my bows and my pistols are right handed but using my left eye and my accuracy will suffice.

I am right handed but left eye dominant. I shoot long guns and bows left handed but pistols right handed. Eli is the exact opposite left handed but right eye dominant.

The secret to a long marriage is to keep on dating, just as you did before marriage. We have "date night" once a week.
Hers is Saturday, mine is Thursday.

The only time a married woman gives those is if your not married to them!

Right handed and left eye dominant. I had amblyopia in my right eye as a kid. I'm sure that's why. When I shoot trap and skeet, I usually smudge my left lense or put a piece of tape on it. It will make the right eye take over. I close my left eye for rifle and pistol.
