[quote=Uokman2014]I have a 6.0 with auto transmission in a 1500HD. I also only get ~13 mpg on the highway. Average ~11.5-12 mpg as a daily driver. It's a gas-hog but has been a reliable engine otherwise.

I've had a 1500HD and got he exact same mileage with 11mpg around town. Those engines are strong and reliable though.

I had a 2003 2500 HD. 12 to 14 mph is about it.

I’ve got several 2500 6.0 service trucks and I’m driving a 6.2 1500. 6.2 is averaging 12 no mater what. 6.0’s are from 9-12.5 depending on who’s driving it but they get the same no matter what’s on them or what they’re pulling. I got a couple guys that are wide open or nothing most of the others are 11 for the 03-05 trucks and 12-12.5 in the 06-2010 trucks and the range from 175k-308k in miles Those service trucks haul 1.5-3 tons of tools and equipment everywhere they go The 03 use to pull 16-17k on a trailer to Mississippi and back on a regular basis and would pull it way faster than it would stop it

Any known major issues?

I’d have a 6.0 on my lawnmower if my yard was a little bigger. The key to 6.0 or any other LS is clean, quality oil

2015 GMC 3500 4wd dually with 6.0. Averaging about 12 mpg. I'll never go back to a diesel. If diesel got 22MPG and was bulletproof reliable and a no fuss low cost ownership then ya diesel sounds neat, that ship has long since sailed.

I have vehicles with both engines. I get about 13-14 with the 6.0 and 14-15 with the 6.2. the 6.2 has more horsepower but other than merging on the interstate I'm not sure it is really worth it. the problem with my 6.2 is it only likes high octane fuel. I think the Manual calls for 93. you can put a year old can of 87 in the 6.0 and it runs the same way every time. I just wish I could get the 6.0 in our Yukon xl like it is in my Chevy HD with 260k purring like a kitten. ok, more like shaking a bag of hammers...but that is how they role. lots of piston slap on the older 6.0 engines but a lot of them still on the road with 400k +.
