I loaded some 178 eldx for this rifle a couple weeks ago and have been surprisingly pleased. I've never gotten anything under 200 grains to shoot in this rifle and I've tried them all from 150-180. Havent hunted with or shot this rifle in 10 years and have owned it since 99' when Rem first came out the RUM series. I'Il probably hunt with it this season since its shoot so well with these Hornadys

What's wrong with the 200 grain? I realize the 165/168 is ideal coefficient for a 30 caliber, but if you can push a 200 grain up to 3200 fps that's gotta be Thor's hammer at long range.

According to one of the folks I spoke with at Barnes when I was making the decision to try them with my barrel length and load I should be pushing the 168gr over 3600 FPS. I know it does the job at ranges less than 100 out to 585 on deer. I’ve been very happy with the performance in my rig.

Nothing at all wrong with the 200 grain bullets. I shoot the SGK and Swift A-frame . I just decided to try the 178 ELDX and was very pleased and surprised with the accuracy. This load is pushing the 178 @ 3200 fps. The 200’s were a bit slower but killed everything instantly.
As I said I tried pretty much everything under 200 with several different powders and could not get what I consider a decent group. Curious to see how these 178’s perform on game from this rifle. I’ve loaded them for the 308 and they’re hard hitting coming from it

The ELDX has been accurate in everything i shot it out of. I picked up a custom Sendero (7mm Mag) from a guy last year and he hand loaded ELDXs and i wasn't sure if I'd have the same results with factory loaded, but she punched a 3 shot group just under 1/2" inch at 100 yards. Had same results with my Ruger precision 6.5
