Yup. Can’t even take the prop off a larger motor and launch with the intentions of only using a trolling motor, and don’t think you won’t get checked. You will. They’re serious. They check the data plate on the motors not going by the numbers on the cowling

An acquaintance of mine wrote the Cullman water authority or whoever is over boating on the lake to ask if he could remove the prop on his “big” motor and use his trolling motor only for propulsion and the answer was a lengthy NO.
