This past March we conducted a controlled burn on all of our property. This was anywhere from the 1st to 3rd burn depending on the section.

Why do I always get nothing but greenbrier, weeds, and poison ivy growing back. I see pictures like Gobbler and others post and I get very jealous!

Sage grass likes very poor soil so your soil may be to neutral for it. Not really sure. My neighbor has a 1 1/2 acre area in her long leaf that every tree in it died. The rest are doing great but also there is virtually no sage grass in it also. No telling

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Good news is, in most cases, that greenbrier and those weeds are usually really good for deer, turkeys and other wildlife. Have have multiple areas of thinned and burned pines, some areas have sage grass and others don't.

Add some chemical and get some sunlight to the ground

3 things that define what kind of person a man is: women, money, and deer

Best guess based on description is not enough sunlight. Broomstraw and other bluestem grasses love LOTS of sun and do very poorly in shady conditions. Thats where weeds, greenbriar and poison ivy do best grin

I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine

I am hoping that our place will grow up in broomstraw and such and not just briars and unwanted stuff. We recently had you guys spray about 80ac that was thinned last fall and then yall mulched about 100ac that had more competition in it and we plan spray it next summer. I sure would like for it to grow up pretty in broomstraw and such. I will say the deer and turkeys seem to be loving it as I have seen plenty of both in the last couple weeks while bushhoggin.

If you want grass, spray with 64onz triclopyr 4, 2onz escort and 16 one surfactant per acre after you get some sunlight on the ground. Don’t spray imazapyr (Arsenal) if you want grasses.

If you want grass get in there on a tractor and bush hog. All of that stuff cuts down easy and some kind of grass will take it's place.
