Came across this video online when looking for replacement strings. This guy locks the cams with a screwdriver and simply replaces the string. As long as the cams can support the weight, I don’t see why this is so bad. Thoughts?

Yep can be done, but you better be careful doing it. Very easy to damage a cam or a limb. It can only be done to change the main string, not the cables.

Guy in the video changed the cables also. Is there a reason not to do cables this way vs doing the string this way?

Yeah, on a true dual cam you could. On a bow with a solo or hybrid cam system you wouldn’t be able to.

I've done that on the bowfishing boat a few times whenever someone messed up and slipped a string off of a cam.
