I sold my entire reloading setup 14yrs ago when my daughter was born and now that her and my son have gotten a little older I’m ready to get back in the saddle again. I was using a Rockchucker with RCBS dies. I’ve “acquired” a couple sets of Lee dies in trades here lately and it looks like they neck size instead of full length size like the RCBS. What is the difference between the two and is one better than the other? Sorry for all the dumbass questions and thanks in advance for any input!

one neck sizes fired brass fired in the rifle the reloads are being loaded for. There are minute differences between rifle chambers from same manufacture guns.

Alway full length resize brass from other rifles and brass from unknown rifles.

What Fred said above as to difference between a neck and a full length sizer. Lee makes both full length sizers and collet neck sizers. I normally like RCBS dies but do have a couple of Lee's collet neck sizing dies.

I like to neck size for some of my guns, but for general purpose use, FL sizing gets the job done. I do not mix loads between guns and sort my brass by manufacturer and lot #

I also like to neck size. As long as it's for the same gun the brass was shot in. It works the brass less. Supposed to full length size for a semi auto, they can be finicky if it requires a little force to chamber a round.
