Anything other than steaming them and dipping them in melted butter is punishable by death.

Highly disagree. Royal reds that I've eaten have a very grainy texture and are my least favorite. Brown shrimp have the sweetest flavor.

Then yours were all over cooked. Royal reds are by far the sweetest.

Agreed. I do not like the taste and texture of royal reds. Overpriced and over hyped imo.

I butterfly them and grill them, just baste with butter and garlic. I agree, my favorite for sure and they freeze (re-freeze) well too especially fully submerged in water.

not sure what the best way to handle them is but they shouldnt be on tv and gettn married and raisin kids

Mrs. Irish does New Orleans BBQ shrimp. Which is a misnomer, because they are anything but BBQ'd. They are cooked in a casserole dish with lots of butter, Worcester sauce and garlic and lemons. It's served with a salad on the side and lots of French bread for dipping.

Her recipe is similar to this:

You should only cook royal reds half the time you cook regular shrimp.
