I had Covington and sold 'em when I got my John Deere 71's. The only thing I miss about the Covington's was the fertilizer hopper. With the Covington I had to plant slower and refill the hopper more often. The Deere planters have a much larger hopper and can plant at higher speed than the Covington. The biggest downside to the 71's is it takes a lot of seed to prime the hopper so they may not be good for plots smaller than an acre.
But if Covington is what you want I don't think you can go wrong with 'em. They are very good plot planters and you can get parts for them with no problem.

Technology for small 1,2,4 row planters is severely lacking.
The Covington works well but is approx. a 100 year old production concept. I have a one row and use it for wide row applications, melons.etc.
Seed prices have risen to the point that any wasted seed or fertilizer is cost prohibitive.
Tune 'em up good!
biggest problem is applying nitrogen using a one row . spin spreader will burn corn back bad . lol
