Who is going to the gun show at the Hoover Met this weekend? I am thinking about going Saturday. I am in the market for another project pistol, doubt I will find a deal like the last one.

I have never found anything even remotely resembling "a deal" at a gun show. 9 times out of 10, it's either super-cheap (quality, not price) chinese junk or it's used guns priced at or above retail price for a new one.

There are 3 certainties in an uncertain world:

1. All Politicians Are Liars
2. All Gun Laws Are an Infringement
3. Taxation Is Theft

I find deals all the time at gun shows..... last show up there had several nice deer rifles with custom barrels under $1k that looked respectable. One was a 7mm STW with a Krieger barrel I almost bought it but left it for someone that needed it more than I do. Usually some ammo deals where at least you can save on shipping and sales tax and no $20 FFL transfer on firearms, etc.

At this show usually B'ham pistol wholesale has a table and has good show prices on new guns like AR's and pistols.

Gun Shows are not a retail gun store. If you go in there looking for something like a Savage 99 you might walk out with a deal. If you go in there looking for a Savage 110 for $200 in good shape you might do better at a Pawn Shop. Just depends.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

I will be there on Saturday morning. Even if I'm not buying I usually find some interesting guns.

I bought a S&W N Frame 38 special for 225.00, it was a fun project to re-blue, tack driving little gun at 20 yards, I consider that a deal. I will hopefully be there on Saturday when the doors open. I will be the ugly bearded dude wearing the black Ruger Hat

There are deals, but you have to hunt them out. I also agree that most of it is ammo.

There's usually a guy with really hard to find ammo too. That's how I found .40-60 ammo.

Now that's seriously an odd ball caliber. I think it's been obsolete for about a century.

I went to the last show at the Met and was disappointed at the size of it. It was about 2/3 the size of the previous one I went to there. IDK.

I bet you were at the CASC show. Those are small shows.

The show this weekend is the Alabama Gun Collectors (AGCA) and what everyone refers to as the "big show"
