Hey guys, new to duck hunting here in Alabama. Can I hunt out of a boat on public lakes, or am I limited to WMA’s only for hunting public waters? Thanks.

Just figure out who the warden is that covers the area you’re wanting to hunt and ask him. That’s your best bet. It differs too much between the waterways.

They are hostile on Alabama Power waterways. TVA or Corp land obviously there are fewer problem because the precedence has been set that it's public.

AL Power has pretty much raped and pillaged any river system controlled by them. Not one WMA that I am aware of all they care about is selling a lake lot. Truly sad that our State has allowed that with nothing remaining for wildlife, etc.... but we should not be surprised in the slightest. AL Power could tell Aunt Bee to shave her head and she would do it.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Wasn't aware that Alabama Power owned lake lots.

yes they had to purchase the properties they planned on flooding before they built the dam. on Lake Martin they won't sell you one you sign a 35 year lease, build your home and Alabama power owns the land it sits on. dont know how they work on other lakes.

Not anymore. Several years ago they started selling the lots. Also, Russell owns a lot of land on lake Martin.

2. Russell and Alabama Power both own a lot of land on the lake.
