Do deer feed in the rice fields much? It seems to have a relatively short growing season. They do. They will eat it more when the ratoon crop is making a hard grain in late fall early winter. They do use it for cover. There will be beds all over in the fields.

We fly the seed into a flooded field and and once the seed sprouts we drain the fields and let the rice grow for a few weeks and then flood the fields and watch it grow.
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

This storm going to affect you marsh? Looks like it may be to the east of us so we may be ok. However the rice is definitely at the wrong stage to get lots of rain and wind on it. It could blow it down flat on the ground and then the water will go over the grain heads and ruin the whole crop. It could be devistating. It’s in the good Lords hands now.
