We all know about the .38 wadcutter backwards but add Marine expoxy and perhaps a BB. Publicly we probably shouldn't admit to our foibles but I did push an 88 grain Remington hollowpoint pretty hard in a 9 mil Winchester magnum. And I used Elmer Keith's 2400 load but backed down to 21 grains.
Only hits count.

I haven't tried it yet, but someone suggested loading a 000 buckshot pellet in a 375 H & H magnum. Need to do a little research and try it for squirrel hunting.

AU Sam Fadala writes of using a lead 0 shot in .30-30 so you may be onto something. Plain lead or perhaps nickelcoated?

Think I would run plain lead, be worried about nickel coated engraving the barrel and ruining the accuracy. Shoots 300 gr Hornady RN into an inch at 100 yards.

I loaded several hand cast round ball loads for my 45 colt back in the day. Actually killed a running squirrel with that load at about 60'. Pure luck but I did it..LOL!

I would think plain lead in the 375 Magnum would gas cut badly. Maybe if you down loaded it. I've used a reduced load in 308 that supposed to shoot 150s at about 1000fps. Kinda fun but pointless. It will definitely be downloaded in the 375. I load subsonic ammo for my 308 using 168 gr bullets and trail boss powder.

back many years ago I loaded 75gr solid base 6mm hollow points in backwards , flat base up, over a reduced load of powder. They moved around 2300fps and shot 1" groups at 100 yards.

Nah just everyone scared to admit to doing "that load" publicly.Loaded 185 .45acps backwards to remove leading they worked. Think it was 231 or HP38.

I've done worse. I got hold of some 60gr .25 bullets one time, couldn't find any loading data for them so I just figured from 75gr loads. Only problem was I had wrong powder in the hopper and loader it HOT. Bullet never made it 100 yards to the target, gun sounded like a stick of TNT, and kicked like a 300 mag. Bolt wouldn't open, or even move. I finally kicked it open. Primer was GONE, case head was polished smooth, no writing at all. I figure that lil 60 grainer was going bout 4500fps before it melted. Took me a minute to figgger out the "wrong powder " problem....never did that stupid chitt again. Remington built some strong actions back then.

"Someone" once loaded 130 grain .270s at 150 grain powder charge...."Why am I not breaking 2700 fps?" Oops!

I have loaded 3 #1 buckshot in those blue shot capsules in a 38 special. Was getting 1200 fps and a pattern as big as your palm @ 15 feet or so. The problem I was having was that the recoil from the first shot would cause the capsules to shatter on the other 4 loads.
I also cast a soft 00 buck pellet and run it through a .314 sizer and load it in a 32 long case over 2 grains of trail boss. Surprisingly accurate and pretty close to a 22 out of a 327 federal single seven.
May the sound of hounds never die!

Loaded 170 grain 30/30 flatpoints @2550 fps outta 30/06 for a pair of young ladies who promptly smacked does with them. I'd like to see younger folks using that instead of marginal calibers.
