Just a few pics of some soybean fields we planted. Working hard on providing plenty of food. All fields were fenced off to keep the deer out while getting established. We took one fence down 2 weeks ago and the rest came down today. It’s all eagle forage soybeans.

Looks great. What kind of fence did you use. How large are the fields?

Each field is at least an acre. We used solar electric fences on a couple and used plotsaver fence on the others. Plotsaver worked just as good as the electric. We planted some with no fence and they look nothing like these. It’s a learning experience for us but it’s been fun so far.

Before I read that you had them fenced off, I was going to ask if you actually had any deer in the area. Looks great and hard to beat Eagle beans.

Looks great. Have you ever used milorganite? If so, how did the results compare?

We thought about milorganite but had trouble finding any. The plotsaver fence system is the way to go. We were skeptical at first but those pics don’t lie. It works. Easy to use and reusable so it would be cheaper in the long run. Just don’t buy the posts from them. They are cheaper at tractor supply.

How often did you reapply the spray to the plotsaver?

Soaked it before we put it up and reapplied one time.

CAL, We used milorganite on plots last summer with what seemed to be positive results. Had a 1/2 acre plot of ICP make it all the way until the end of September before being eating down to nothing. planted second plot close by approximately the same size that did not have Milorganite applied and it was gone by early August. Not the most full proof use of the scientific method but did give a little information that it could have had an effect.

Those Beans look awesome BTW. Very nice

Man those look great. How old are they and how much fertilizer did you apply? It will be interesting to see how long 1 acre plots last.

I got mine in late this year, about 3 weeks ago.Six acres of Eagles/corn and another 2 acres of a five way summer mix of climbing beans, millet, sunflowers and buckwheat.I can fence them but last year did OK without the fence. They got sprayed with GLY last week-end, got 1 1/2" of rain Saturday nite and will get ferttilized next week-end so it should be on.Can't wait until they look more like yours.

The first photo was planted 4 days and one good rain after the bottom photo. Pretty big difference.

This is what they looked like last year, hoping for a repeat

Ours are all about 3 feet tall right now so I hope they can resist the browsing that they will get. They were planted very end of May and we went through a little bit of a drought after planting. They’ve grown a lot in the past 2-3 weeks. Don’t remember the exact amounts of fertilizer. If they start killing em then we will just put the fences back up and let em grow a little

I used the plotsaver and it worked well for me,as well. Key is to have the tape at 30", I think it is.

Good looking beans. You broadcast them, drill them, or row plant them? Did you use any pre emergent?

After you broadcast them did you cultipack or just lightly disk over them?
