When I started fishing again 4 years ago, I thought frogging was just for late summer/fall on the mats. But a couple friends had been throwing the frog last few weeks, doing pretty well with it and posting pics on Facebook. So I threw one a little yesterday. It was sparse grass, reeds in the edge of the weeds. This fish was right on the bank. Hit it first twitch. I’m gonna frog a lot more. It was fun. I think I like the sparse stuff better than the mats. I’d like to master this skill. Of course I was so amped up from this one that I jerked the n ct one out of a fish’s mouth. Odd thing happened though. Next cast after catching the bass, my frog went flying off in the woods. AvengedSevenfold told me I need to tie a knot in tag end of line because braid can pull through. I think this was a Booyah Pad Crasher. Might have been a Pad Crasher Jr. Green and yellow. Any brands or colors y’all favor? Any can’t miss frog tips you want to share?

Snag proof black with yellow and black tail Tweety is a classic. I throw a frog pretty much all year except winter. Good in spring for post-spawn, too. As for the braid knot, leave a quarter- or half-inch tag in case it slips a big. A longter tag doesn't matter with a frog on grass.
