I think we are seeing evidence of over population of snakes. We need to step up our game and kill more and quit letting any venomous snake live.

Sad times

I think the real story is he was messing with the snake or trying to catch it and got bit 3 times and it actually did not fall out of a tree into his kayak.

I second that motion and move to form a committee on the proper method(s) to dispatch the snakes - hoe, shovel, machete, or gun.

I have.
Seen one snatch a baby squirrel, from a nest, and jump out of the tree, land on ground still holding the squirrel.

The proper way to dispose of a snake is to cover him with shat, he will smother to death

"When somebody yelled they’d seen an alligator, he decided he was going to go after it and it turned out to be a snake and he still grabbed it," his brother, Kyle Colquitt said. "He reached in, grabbed it and it bit him three times in the hand. He turned around and said, ‘Well, it bit me,’ and we started paddling.”

His neck is red as Alabama clay
Now he's goin' home this time to stay

I read once that 55% of venomous snake bites are males between the ages of 17 and 27, and 57% of all people bitten were handling the snake when they got bitten. It also said over 25% of folks who got bitten were intoxicated.

I bet most of those things line up.
