I agree the 3rd baseman messed up and made a bad throw, but saying he should have tagged the runner is wrong. You always go for the force out. Can you imagine if he had tried to tag the runner and not been able to? People would've been howling about how stupid he was to try that. Or, the worst thing that would have happened is there are runners at first/second, first/third, or second/third...and Auburn still has the lead.

That's true, but in baseball you basically have to decide what you're going to do before the ball is hit. I'm sure all the infielders were thinking "force out at first, game over". Trying to change it up in 0.2 seconds seems like a recipe for disaster.

How could you not, though? The guy is RIGHT THERE in front of you. Literally in front of you, two feet away. He waited to let the guy run past him before making the high throw?
Champion players make that decision in 0.2 seconds and tag the guy.
Auburn, of course, was just one play away.

I was thinking, you know how during some games they post up the percentage of this team winning or losing? It may change as the ebb and flow of the game changes. I've seen it during the golf tournaments when a player is putting and it will flash up the chance the putt will go in. I wonder what the "experts" had up as percentage that AU would win when the bottom of the 9th started? I'll say 95+%.

Auburn vs Louisville right now. Down 1-0 in the 2nd. Julien came up to bat and got a big ovation from the Auburn fans. Singled up the middle and is now on 3rd with no outs. Good to see him get back in there with some fire after having a brain cramp on Sunday. He just scored to tie it up.
