Would you rather:

1) go to the final 4 and Omaha (unbelievable year)

Or

2) not go 3-5 in sec football.

I’ll hang up and listen, thanks pawl

Omaha, or Final 4!! Especially Omaha. I'd
take a CWS Championship over football
any day.

I don’t think there’s much hope for any better. I will just continue to enjoy watching the baseball team as long as they’re playing.

Fact. 3-5 or 8-0 I’ve still got to wake up and got to work the next day. Try telling that to a fan base whose self esteem is tied directly to the success or failure of a bunch of kids.

Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

AU defensive line will be hard to deal with this year. I see them being better than 3-5 in the SEC. Malzhan will coach for his job this year, so it wouldn't surprise me at all to see 9 or 10 wins. I believe they might finally have a QB or 2 designed for the system. Optimistic Auburn fan here.

I could see that as well. Honestly, I think game 1 vs Oregon will set the tone.

vs Oregon
@ A&M
@ Florida
@ LSU
vs Georgia
vs Bama

tough schedule.

Yes I agree. Tough schedule. Oregon will be a good measuring stick of where we are. As far as Auburn, it'll just depend on what team boards the plane.

What happen with the Auburn/Tennessee home/away series? Shouldn't they be playing in Tennessee this year in place of the Florida game?

They don't do home/away with cross divisional opponents anymore, other than your permanent one.

Here’s another hypothetical question. With AU making it to Omaha are they the SEC all sports champs?

Would certainly have a valid argument.

Would depend on how the other 3 SEC teams do in Omaha I guess. Tough to overcome being bad in football.

Softball and Golf would disagree with that, but I agree that the other sports have plenty of room to work on

Also, auburn has had a hell of a finish in baseball, but was 6th place of 7 in SEC west in regular season, and went 2-2 against sucks balls Alabama.

Kentucky with best football year ever and Elite 8 b-ball is pretty good.

LSU had decent year in the big 3, even with a few bad football losses

Auburn certainly has potential to finish strong and be best SEC year

Actually, they use horses at whichever school is holding the event. If Auburn travels to Georgia, they ride the horses provided by Georgia, and vice versa.

Ah...you have some talented horsie riders, then.

Still hard to believe it's an actual NCAA sport.

Better than the other 3 SEC schools with equestrian programs for sure

Don't the 4 SEC teams make up about a quarter of the total teams in the country that compete in equestrian?

I didn’t know collegiate archery was a sport with indoor and outdoor championships. A young lady from DAR just got inducted into the Marshall County Sports Hall of Fame. She was on national championship archery team at Texas A&M.

Money? I doubt there's any money in equestrian...other than money going out.

It's a Title IX satisfier. A financial drain on athletic departments.

In this case, the BS (Title IX) is talking and the money is walking.

Auburn could have played ANYBODY and probably won the day of their bowl game They really were that good. So, bowl victory, final four with epic run and now CWS.
Yes thats what it means to be a true fan of your school and not just a football fan.

It was Purdue, who finished the season 6-7. You're reading WAY too much into that bowl win.

Nice win? Sure.

Still an average (at best) Purdue team.

Not sure how being a fan of the other programs that are having historic seasons makes you a "complete" fan, either. Be a fan when they suck, too...that's what makes you a "true" fan.

Hunter that was what I was infering. Cheer for all sports not just football. Its is easy for me as BAMA is by far my favorite team after Auburn. Typically either bama or auburn are decent at a sport so its all good..It goes Auburn, Bama .. State Schools, SEC....

I know 100+ auburn graduates of the top off my head, some of my best friends, inlaws, coworkers, my grandad, church friends, golf buddies, hunting/fishing buddies, etc and 0.00% of them have ever cheered for alabama, in anything, ever.

yep.. but then again Im fifty. Its just stupid to pull against another school from your state. I honestly cant even quantify how anybody is so insecure enough not to cheer for all home state institutions. But that doesnt mean you have to like bams.. Come on folks with due respect to doekiller its pretty hard liking a fanbase of lawyers, accountants and side walk constituents.

You do realize a bunch of Auburn grads go to law school, and are CPAs, right?

Hell, half the lawyers I know are Auburn fans. A lot of them even went to law school at Alabama after undergrad at Auburn. And I don't know any Auburn fans that root for Alabama ever. Of course, I don't root for Auburn, so I know how they feel.

my stance on other home state institutions:

Huntingdon - neighborhood school, sure, I hope they beat whatever other irrelevant school they play.
Alabama State - don't care
Tuskegee - don't care
UNA - don't care
South Alabama - don't care, hope they succeed, but not enough to cheer for them.
UAB - will cheer for depending on opponent, mostly don't care
Troy - will cheer for depending on opponent, mostly don't care
Auburn - Under no circumstances.

So far we have 1 person who feels like you do (you)

Do you want to adjust your 85-90% estimate? Or are we waiting on more people to show up?

Dude, referencing zealots on a football site is pretty empty correlation.

I agree with him with a couple of changes

It's not insecurity to not cheer for another team to win. And it's not being terrible if you don't cheer for them. Some folks really just don't care one way or another.

Insecurity, though, is pinning your existence on a group of 18- to 22-year-olds, wearing the team's clothing every day, having a bunch of decals on your car, have responses similar to 7th grade if somone says anything else. Insecurity (and a sickness) is being depressed and angry for multiple days or longer if your team loses, instead of finally realizing you had zero to do with the outcome in any way whatsoever, the players on the team are not "playing for the fans" because they don't give two chits about fans (they care about winning, poontang and the NFL), and that its time to get on with your life. Insecurity is literally every day wearing apparel that is branded in some way with your team's logos or hashtags or sayings, which is not what a fan does ... it's what an obsessive, insecure person does who needs validation to feel better. Insecurity is seeing someone wearing a cap or shirt from "the other team" and instead of simply being a decent human being, responding with some kind of impolite or snarky bullchit about the sport. Insecurity is when you find out that a friend's child has been accepted to another university your response is "Oh, I'm so sorry." instead of being happy for the youngster and congratulating them. (That last one is also what a f'king asshole does but it's rooted in insecurity.)

Cheering for home state institutions is fine. Hey, good job! Well-played! When it comes to Alabama, I respect great football and coaching so I enjoy watching them. Same with UAB or JSU or ASU. But to cheer for Alabama? Hell, no. Never. And I would never expect an Alabama fan to "cheer" for Auburn.

my stance on other home state institutions:

I agree with him with a couple of changes

Huntingdon - don't care, hope they win
Alabama State - same
West Alabama - same
Tuskegee - same
UNA - same
UAB - same
South Alabama - same
Troy - Same
Jacksonville State - same
Alabama - Under no circumstances

Oh, you use your tongue better than a $10 French whore.
