Went to the TNF for a hog hunt, figured the heat and dry weather would have them near water. Not even on the forest road good and came up on two. Went down the road a little and stepped into the wood line and jumped one. Continued toward the place I had in mind to hunt when I had the biggest hog I have ever seen cross the road 75 yds in front of me. I killed a 250lb hog a few yrs ago but this thing made that one look small. I went to a wallow that I know of and watched it for over an hour with no luck. I looked around and found some fresh sign but by then it was going on 11am and the heat had set in. Trying to figure out how to get on them that doesn’t consist of just getting lucky.

Walk slow, keep your eyes open, and listen!!! If they are on their feet they are loud but if they are bedded down you can walk all over them and never know they are there. Hogs can’t see good but have a very good sense of smell so always play the wind.

Yeah I was having trouble with the wind, seems to be an issue at this place, it swirls pretty badly. Thinking about taking a stand to hang near this wallow.

In my opinion hunting wallows aren’t very productive. I would find where they are bedding at and hunt daybreak or late evenings.

Well for starters, the first two were on the side of the road, by the time I stopped the truck they took off. The third one was jumped in waist high bushes, and couldn’t see enough to make a shot, while the fourth one crossed the road 75 yds in front of me into the woods. By the time I got to where the fourth crossed he was gone.
