In my quest for the perfect boiled egg I found this great video and I boiled the PERFECT 8 minute boiled egg! They'd be a little soft for a salad but if you just want a great boiled egg that's not boiled to death, 8 minutes is IT!

I picked up one of those little egg cookers at walmarts few months ago. You add various amounts of water in a try and turn it on and it shuts off on it's on. Works pretty dog gone good. Does great poached eggs as well.

I've put vinegar in the water and put ice on them after cooking and I still can't peel em without tearing them apart. I don't have a real delicate touch. I work on big, rusty equipment every day. I'm not well suited for tedious stuff like digging metal slivers out of somebodies finger, getting stuff out of your eye or delicately peeling eggs. You need something big ripped apart, I'm your huckleberry

I’ve found it works best doing it with the side of my thumb knuckles, under running water.
Put a hole on both ends, little bigger on the big end. Then palm the egg softly and blow hard into the hole on the little end a couple of times until the shell separates from the egg and usually just pops out completely.

I like 6.5-7min as well followed by ice bath. The trick to easy peel eggs is they can’t be to fresh. Buy an extra dozen and let them sit in the fridge for a week or two to keep for boiled eggs. Fried, it’s not as important.
