Or a jackass biologist screwing the taxpayers for his power trip. Your mileage may vary on your opinion. Biologist don't have the corner market not being a failure last time I checked.

I'm no fan of the changes. I know the Department is underfunded and all agencies nationwide are seeking revenue sources. In the end, the "baiting license permit" is here to stay and is, thankfully, nominal compared to what they could've done with it. I don't believe this is the end of piecemeal increases, though, like for specific weapons or other fees.

But to say Chuck is doing all this alone and making all the decisions alone is false. I don't know the man. Never have met him. But I know enough about how things work down there that it's not a one-man operation. The director or commissioner doesn't just say "Hey, let's phuck up the hunters by adding a fee" and it happens automatically. Politics and a lot of backroom crap involving meddling legislators with no biological knowledge and other citizens trying to measure dicks or push their agenda happens. Politics and stuff like this is pretty damned ugly.

No doubt. And sometimes you need to be a jackass and stand up to those in the wrong. Doesn't mean you will win, but it does mean you are not willing to do a podcast that takes it even further. That podcast came from the director, not an editor, not the commissioner, not a talk forum, from Chuck. Been getting worse and worse since he took over. His resignation can't come soon enough IMHO.

Question;
How would any of you go about increasing the the funding for the ALDCNR?
By Law, it does not get monies from the General Fund. So, it has to be in the form of licenses or fines. And, although most seem to support an increase in fines; it has also been well established that fine money should not be a part of budget planning.
Also, unless I am mistaken, Law dictates when and by how much that hunting license fees may be increased....and it was not much.

Honestly, I am not a fan of the ‘no exemption’ thought process that is being applied to this for those who are already exempt from buying licenses.
But, according to another current thread on the Serious Deer Hunting forum, fees and special licenses and rules are good tools to use to use to deter certain undesirable activities.

Seems like opinions and ideas are all over the place here!

I got a BIG problem with the liar. He looked me in the eye right after he took the job and said Jackson County would not have a February season. Then he extended deer season into February against the recommendation of "his" biologist all to make a deal to get game check. Shake yer head bout that!

Biologist my ass, Chuck is Ainsworth's and the rest of the high fence cartel's bitch.

The $15 fee / funds was needed but a "good leader" would have spoken up about the ignorance of requiring a child to have the permit.. Thats what a leader does he adresses right and wrong.

Simple answer. I wouldn't.
They have a sufficient budget. I would make them operate within that budget.
I would stop sending the GWs on PR assignments and have them do their damn job.
I would aggressively persue poaching and baiting violations and prosecute them.
Furthermore, I would promote legislation to remove the law enforcement from the DCNR and put it under the authority of the state Attorney General like all other LEOs in the state.
I would aggressively promote our state's hunting and recreational opportunities for tourism and try to increase non-resident license sales.

I know what you're saying Clem, but you also know this legislation would never have seen light without the rubber stamp from the dept.
Chuckles made his intentions clear more than two years ago and he absolutely supported this legislation. You know it, and I know it.

Y’all read the last part of Clem’s post and think about it. I’m telling y’all that Chuck Sykes or Chris Blankenship had nothing to do with this baiting bill or the permit fees and requirements that go with it. I’m not here to defend Chuck but y’all are wrong thinking that all of this is his idea and a money grab for DCNR.

We are all for the betterment of hunting in this state so we are all on the same page there. And you could be right about him supporting it now that he has to. And like I said I’m not defending Chuck Sykes and some of his decisions in the past but I damn sure know what I’m talking about here. But I could use a bridge if you can move it to South Montgomery County. lol

There was no biological reason to extend deer season to Feb 10th in the north.

There was no biological reason to move the opening day of turkey season to the 3rd Saturday in March and take hunting days away from us. The assistant director said if you were in a club and take off during the week you had a “big advantage”.

When I emailed Chuck and told him I wished that we had a director who would make decisions based on sound biological principles and not an agenda he told me to “ Be careful what I wish for”

Y’all keep trusting Chuck and I’ll keep on not trusting or believing him.

Well it is pretty easy he should just direct GW to ignore any child not having a baiting license.

I am right there with you...Every time I see a video of Chuck huntin or read an article, it's always the hunting has just got better and better! I mean come on man, of course you will have fine hunting when you hunt with the big wigs on the best land in the state. I have hunted all over the state, and it's gotten pathetic to be honest. Yes, they have to make money, but there are so many other ways to do that at no expense to us hunters who do it by the book. Out back hit it on the head and to add, there are stats in another deer thread with the fines for hunting illegally...absolute joke...One of the main reasons there are so many renegades out there is that it's just a slap on the wrist IF you get caught....compared to other states (Kansas was the example in that it's a $10,000 fine for spotlighting there) That's how you hurt poachers is by their pocketbook! It would even cut down on the money spent to repair damage to wmas etc because people would be more afraid to get caught! GO FIGURE...

I have out of state buddies in disbelief with how every single decision has been to satisfy the rich, Chuck himself, and not the common people of this great state. If all the research data as people said was against every single decision made by Chuck, then why in the world are they WASTING our hard earned money by funding all this research of theirs! It's not gonna stop...this is only the beginning...They wonder why the decline in the hunters? There will be an even sharper decline now because people are going to start saying "Screw it, I'mma go out west and spend my money actually seeing deer and big deer at that for half the price it will be to hunt in our very own state!" He only cares about himself and his agenda...not the hardworking regular folks who try to do it right and introduce kids to the good Lord's creation.

I ain't buying it and if i decide to hunt over corn I'll take my chances but I've never met a game warden on my property...i think this whole thing is stupid...i will have a pile by my house like always that I can see from my porch it'll be up to game warden to decide if I'm hunting...

You're kidding yourself if you don't think Sykes was a, if not the, driving force behind this, no doubt being prompted by Ainsworth and their money fat, high fence buddies.

if you don't think he was then you haven't been listening to him very much since he took over.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I think we aughta organize about 20 guys from this thread and go fix a square mile of state land just to prove what we’re capapble of.

Of course, they’d have to approve the permit or some schit before we start.
