We finished up the state 4H shotgun competition Sunday and sure enough the St. Clair team took first place. Allen and three other boys are now going to be shooting in the national championship in Nebraska. It took a few years but they finally got it done. The three top shooters broke 371 of 450 targets: 50 skeet, 50 trap, and 50 sporting clays each. I can’t describe how proud I am as both a parent and a coach.I just met with our county 4H agent and found out how much it will cost to send them to nationals (talk about sticker shock). We have now set up a donation program through 4H. If anyone would like to help, or work for a company that would like to donate, please PM me. All monetary donations will go through the Alabama 4H Foundation and will be given a 501c donation letter so it is a tax deduction. For donations of supplies (shotgun shells, vests, etc), I will need an invoice for the retail price of the supplies and 4H will issue a 501c letter. Thank you and I will update as we go.

You should contact Friends of the NRA. That’s the kind of thing they support. I wish we could have had things like that when I was in school.

I’m wanting to get my girl into this. What’s a good over/under that won’t break the bank? She’s 14, and shots sporting clays a few times with me with 870 20 Ga. if she wants to get serious I would like to get her Over/under.

Congrats to your boy and Team.

Chad

The only reason I hunt ducks is to watch the dogs work.

I'll second contacting Friends of the NRA. Not sure what the grant cycle is, but they support these types of programs. Larry & Brenda Potterfield from Midway USA also have grants available, https://www.midwayusafoundation.org/programs/team-endowment-account-program/. There may be other options as well if you dig into their website.

Yes they did. I remember their name getting called pretty regularly. Tell them congratulations for me and keep it up. Our kids going to nationals have been shooting together for about six years now. It’s tough to get them all to be on their game on the same weekend.

I wish Coosa county had a shotgun team when I was in high school. We did have a jam up Forestry and Wildlife judging team while I was in it though.

I have to give credit where it is due. That hat is one I won from Mayer Insurance a couple of years ago for referring a coworker. My good looks just come naturally. 😀

We have been doing good raising funds and have had some great companies donating. For anyone in the Pell City area, today Buffalo Wild Wings is donating 20% of all food sales to the team as long as you mention you want to support the St. Clair Clay Cutters. Please come out if you can.
