We planted some clover back in the fall and I was wondering what kind of maintenance is suggested with it. I've heard of people keeping it mowed down but never done it myself. What do you do with your fall plots throughout the summer?

If it has weeds spray it with some clethodim. Mow it down to 6 inches or less if it’s too high. Don’t mow when it’s blazing hot season.

If it has grass spray clethodim, .5 oz per gal.
If it has broad leafs spray butyrac, 3 oz per gal.

Use a sticker on both.

Or you can spray glyphosate at 1 oz per gal if the conditions are right.

What kind of clover do you have? Some are dying off and some are going strong right now.

Also depends on how much you have as to whether you want to mow it or not. If the deer are mowing it down then no need to bush hog it other than to clean up some of the trash growing. But most trash will grow back.

I just finished spraying all of mine and also did some throw and mow.

I spray mine with 2ozs/gallon of gly. It kills the grasses and the broadleafs, but doesn't kill the clover. It works, been doing it for years, hell of a lot cheaper. This works on mature clover, not some you've just planted. I plant clover with my fall plantings, and spray in mid April to get a jump on grasses.
