I don't kill most snakes. They have their own place in our ecosystems. This little guy right here is the number one cause of snake bites in the south. Pygmy rattlesnake. They are also the most common venomous snake out there but folks just don't see them. When all the big snakes have been driven to extinction this snake will still be here. They will not live around the Delta. I haven't figured out why but I have never seen them around the Alabama river drainage at all.

Replace your first sentence with this, I kill all snakes except a king snake.;

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

I have a king snake that hangs around my shop that's every bit of 6' long. I got face to face with him one day while gathering eggs.

Yep. Never seen one west of Bay Minette towards the delta but used to see plenty out towards Gateswood. No idea why.

I watched a movie the other day and heard it was the Alabama Black Snake

I took a photo of one in a dirt road a while back, just thought it was a baby timber rattler. The biologist who runs the place I hunt said it was a pygmy. I'd say it was the size of my thumb (maybe a jumbo pencil) and maybe 10-12" long

The old trouser snake still the worst one. Unless it's mine, it's shoot on sight.

That would be the most venomous, but they are very rare and people are rarely bitten.
The little bastage in the pic hits more people

I've always heard that a coral snake didn't have fangs like a rattlesnake. They have to chew a spot, like between your fingers in the loose skin to get the venom in your body. In 45 years of working in the woods I've never seen but two of them.
