I have a question for you guys. How do you go about getting water to freshly planted trees that are out in places not easily accessible by hose and 3 hours from my house? I have a truck, a rain barrel, and 5 gallon buckets. Are my only options going to be doing the whole Micky Mouse Fantasia thing or is there some other neat trick or new-fangled gadget to keep my trees moist for the summer?

plant in the fall, use 36" weed mat and mulch a 48" circle around it

You can drill a small hole in the 5 gallon bucket and let water trickle out over a day or two.
My wife's mother has a 275 gallon water tote on a truck that she waters trees with during hot weather. Runs a 12V shur-flo pump on it.
"Cull" is just another four letter word...

put a pvc pipe down to the roots at and angle, poor water in it until it fills. every day condensation will form inside the pipe and run down the pipe to the roots. one way to get them alittle without it raining
