How much should I expect it to cost to replace the front struts on a 2009 GMC Sierra z71 4x4? I have one that has shot it’s wad, I assume It would be best to replace both. Ballpark. Thanks

It would be very easy to do yourself. You can check rock auto for prices.

Take your kids hunting instead of hunting your kids.

I'd rather be LOST in the woods than FOUND in the city.

Drive a hybrid, I need your gas.

Cheap if you do it yourself. If you are changing just the struts and not the coil springs, get you a coil spring compressor from the local auto store (about $20-$30) and the new struts. Take it all apart, compress the coils, swap out the strut, and put it back together. It's straight forward and easy. I did it on my 2016 F150 not too long ago to put in the Bilstein leveling shocks. Paid about $240 total between the new shocks and the coil spring compressor - the rest was my own labor in my shop with a 12 pack of beer.

If I do it myself, will I need an alignment afterwards?

My daughter in law has a 2013 Yukon,I had to remove the strut in order to change the drivers side front axle.It was easy to r&r and doesn't require an alignment.

haleyville al,
Shouldn’t have to have a alignment. Like they said if you do it yourself and get just shocks it won’t be much estimate about 35.00 a side. If you get a ready mount they run about anouther 100.00 roughly. I personally get the ready mount. Just because I’ve seen a spring go through the roof of the shop.

haleyville al,
If you do go with shock and take the spring down . Put a ratchet strap or chain it down where if it goes south it will hold it.
