Finally found one by himself at about 9:30. Had him across my shoulder at 10:00. The LORD really blessed me with a perfectly timed jake brake down in the valley to make him gobble the first time or I might have walked right over him. Congrats pal!

Heard a couple at daylight they gobbled several times. One was straight in front of us and the other to our left. I took my girlfriend along for company. The one gobbling in front was really close so I decided to give it a go. I’d heard this bird a couple of times in the same area, but he always went away from me. I’m guessing my pinpointing sound directions needs some work. One minute he sounds off out in front, the next gobble sounds far right. The other bird that was to on our left and farther away sounds off left then it seemed like he gobbled directly behind us. Funny thing was when either one would gobble I’d point in one direction and Cecilia (girlfriend) would point in a totally different direction. I get they turn their heads and the sounds seem closer or farther away depending which way their head is turned, but I don’t think a turkey can throw it’s gobble to make it seem like it’s farther left or right. Hearing birds isn’t the problem but if he gobbles several times getting a direction is an issue. Anyone ever used those ear headsets that amplify sound? If so, do they help with direction, or just to magnify sound?
NOW is the time for all GOOD men to come to the aid of their country.

This has been the worst season for gobbling I can ever remember thats the general consensus for just about everyone around the state on average. It’s been a weird spring, and that is despite the numbers of birds being as good as they have been in a few years in a lot of those same areas. I just heard the first bird of the year spontaneously gobble more than once around noon today. I wasn’t hunting, but it sure made me wish I was. That’s typically commonplace from the first week of April on in the areas that I frequent.

Sitting doing an afternoon hunt. I’m on a pasture that they like to frequent but it’s dang hot. Not expecting to see much until last light. Feel like I’m deer hunting them, not my favorite way but just maybe one will fire up once the shade starts across the pasture

It has been a normal year for me as far as hearing gobbling. But then, I've never hunted a place that had the number of different gobblers on it that I read about some of you on here experiencing. I've always thought it was a good morning if I heard one, and hearing 3 was really good.
I got one in GA this morning, and he gobbled about 50 times. I didn't hear any at the first place I went, and located this one about 7:30. Congrats to all who were successful today.
