I've never used live minnows before but am going to try it tomorrow.
The store only sells Toughies. How do you hook them and is a bream buster
with a bobber sufficient?

I hook them through the lips or behind the dorsal fin. Sometimes it makes a difference.

Wondering if these are same as what we get for Stripers. He calls them black salties, but “toughies” is good description. They could live in a bucket for a week I think

This is what I do if I'm going to be reeling them, as in shallow water fishing. If I'm vertically fishing structure as in bridge fishing I'll usually hook them under or behind the dorsal fin.

I like to have the point of the hook ^up^.

I'm making the assumption that we are talking about Crappie fishing here.

No. Those are a type of goldfish. Toughies are actually a fat head minnow.

To the OP, keep em covered and cool or add a bubbler. They're tougher than shiners, but still touchy.

Freeze a bottle of water tonight to put into the bucket with them tomorrow. Keeping them cool will keep them alive.

I typically peg em through the eyes.

Take your kids hunting instead of hunting your kids.

I usually go thru the eyes. Last time I got some there was a couple dozen that were gold in color. That day the Crappie hit those gold ones and hardly noticed the others.

This, so they can open their mouth and breathe. I do the same with shad for smallmouth.
