I’ve been hunting hard in South Alabama since season came in, and last week my wife asked me since I was done for the year would I take her up to our deer club in Marion Co and camp and do a little turkey hunting. My buddy N2Deer was up there and I figured we’d make a weekend of it. Unfortunately it rained all day Friday and all night Friday night. The rain was supposed to clear out about 7 am and then turn nice and sunny. We decided to stay home and get up about 6 am and head up and get in the woods around 9 and hopefully the sunshine would fire one up. We drove north and I talked to N2 and he gave me some intel on a bird he’d seen the previous week (nothing like some good buddies). I took her in there and hauled in a strutter and hen deke and put them in front of her. I’ll let the video tell the rest of the story.

We’re not dead. We just smell that way. Dayum. - AC870
Yessir! I’m always gonna shoot what makes me happy and I want everyone else to do the same! If you shoot one be proud of it and don’t worry what anyone else thinks. - SJ22
All the credit goes to my buddy N2Deer. When we got there I was going to put her on the field by the highway that’s a planted power line because that’s where he seen him strutting. Brandon said he’d put her on the field on the back road because through the pines it’s not but a short walk, is way more secluded, and if he came to the power line it would be difficult to get him in shotgun range (it’s about 300 yards long). I trust him completely, listened, and took her in there and she got her shot. Thanks Brandon.

Happy to help. It was good to get to hang out a little bit. Been difficult to get our schedules together the last few years.
Truth. When we do get some time off together it's usually some bad news for a turkey somewhere. Thanks again for the help, you made her year with that one.

Homestead Café right between Hackleburg and Russelville where 43 and 13 meet. They had everything you can imagine including mud bugs, shrimp done up every kind of way you can think of, fried oysters, frog legs clam strips, catfish, tilapia, founder, and white fish (all fried), jumbalaya, gumbo, stuffed crab shells. Crab legs were sold separately if you want some of those. $15 a head.

I was very surprised, it was great!
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.
