Which side of the reel do you put the handle on?
If you say the right side you’re wrong.

Right hand on handle. Exact same motion as reeling a baitcaster I can't listen to you anymore, Ben!!!

Right hand on handle. Exact same motion as reeling a baitcaster Bingo. I'm still in the dark as to why the manufacturers put the handles on backwards. Baitcast and spincast are manufactured correctly. I'm left handed and still prefer right hand retrieve.

Why are you goobers worried about what everyone else does. Do what is comfortable to you. I suspect you complainers also tried putting the spinning reel on top at one time! I think the manufacturer has more research on this than any of you.

There's a reason basically every spinning reel comes from the factory with the handle on the left.

If you cast with your right hand, you reel with your left. Otherwise you have to switch hands. Being a saltwater fisherman all my life ,this seems odd to me. Watching someone try to reel a spinner upside down and backwards just tickles the crap out of me.

There's a reason basically every spinning reel comes from the factory with the handle on the left. Yep, that's because basically every spinning reel is made in a communist country. Left handed retrieve = Communism Right hand retrieve = Merica

Baitcaster or spinning reel, I throw right handed and reel left handed. Nothing else makes sense to me. There you go! I like to aggravate these guys, but I completely understand why right handed people use spinning reels with the handle on the left side. What I don't understand is why they use a bait caster with the handle on the right side. A standard bait casting reel is the only thing I can think of that is actually made for a left handed person. Throw left handed, reel right handed.

Throw left handed, reel right handed. When I got my first baitcaster way back in the early 80's, my friend convinced me to buy a "left handed" reel, explaining that it made the most sense. Being an engineering student, I agreed. I shared my equipment with my son and now that's what he fishes. I can cast and control the rod with my power hand and reel with my weaker hand. Right handed people that fish with "right handed" baitcasting reels are lemmings, there, I said it

I have no qualms about holding my spinning rod in my weak hand though.
