If you were in the market for a single pin, what would you look at and why? Thinking of switching and trying to narrow down my options. Is there anything I should look out for? Thanks for any help.

HHA, whichever model you like. Personally, I couldn’t stand their Kingpin model but a lot of folks do.

I'm a Spot-Hogg fan. Hogg Father or Tommy Hogg ... I prefer a 0.10 pin

Downside? They are heavier than most sights because they are built like a tank.

I’d recommend the 3 pin Black Gold Ascent Verdict. Have the luxury of locking the sight for a traditional 20/30/40 but can use the bottom pin as your adjustable floater pin.

HHA and Spot Hogg are your two leading manufacturers of single pin sights. For Spot Hogg the Fast Eddie and Hogg Father are their single pin models. HHA has about 5 different models. The best would be the King Pin followed by the Tetra and the Optimizer Ultra. All of the sights I’ve mentioned have the sight tapes mounted on a wheel. The Spot Hogg’s have an adjustable yardage indicator as well. This is important if you need to micro adjust your yardage to re-zero after a string change, peep height adjustment or a nock point adjustment. On the Spot Hoggs you would adjust the yardage indicator to do this. On the HHA’s I mentioned, you can loosen the yardage wheel so it free spins, allowing you to re-zero.

The HHA Optimizer Lite is a big seller. But, it’s a slider and you cannot micro adjust the yardage to re-zero. You have to change out the sight tape.

I’m using the Hogg Father and the King Pin on my hunting rigs.

Between myself, son, 2 hunting buddies we own 6 of these sights. One 3 pin/5 single pin.
We're running and gunning elk. Factors for using were ease of sight adjustments with quiver on, total weight, and reliability

Axcel accuhunter is why my wife and I use and have had good luck with them

One key thing to using an adjustable sight the cheaper made ones have slack in the adjustment in other words you set it for a given distance shoot and move it to a different setting and then back you may or may not go back to the exact yardage while not as critical for hunting if your off a yard or two as it is for target shooting it's still there

I’ve used the HHA optimizer lite ultra for the past several years but just picked up a MBG Ascent Verdict 3 pin slider last week to replace it.

Thoughts on the Alpha Slide from Trophy Ridge? I like the /\ setup for the pin riser. For $120, I’m going to give it a shot. Entry level into single pin, I feel like it’s worth a try.

Went with the HHA Optimizer Ultra XL. Found one on eBay new for $145. Very happy with it so far. Still have my 5 pin but I doubt I will go back. I like that clear sight picture. But I haven’t hunted with it yet. We’ll see how that goes in September. Shoot good groups at 50-60 yards though. I like the dial on it.

I was torn and was looking into the black gold. I had a fixed pin black gold when I switched and lived it.

I changed to Fast Eddie XL by Spot Hogg with the double pin and absolutely love it. I now have it on both of my bows and would recommend to anyone.
