Wondering if anyone has bought a newer massey Ferguson in the last few years? I've been tractor shopping for the last few months looking at pretty much all of the different manufacturers. I've never heard anything bad about them but talked to a salesman about a month ago that sells Massey Ferguson and kubota and he told me that he sells 10 kubota to every 1 massey Ferguson and that he predicted massey Ferguson not to even exist 10 years from now due to their tractors being cheap junk. Just wondering if this has been peoples experience that actually own one? The particular model I was looking at was a 2605H 4x4 with loader.

Problem is lack of dealers and parts support. Then resale.

I don’t know of anyone that has bought a new one. It’s all JD, Kubota and Mahindra now.

I bought a MF 1739 with a loader last august and have had no problems with it. I was looking at Kubota but they kept jacking the price around so i talked with a MF dealer in Dothan. They beat the Kubota price and even delivered it to me free of charge. It has done everything i ask of it and is solid built. No plastic hood on this tractor. I also own a 1963 MF tractor with a 3 cylinder perkins diesel and it is a great tractor. AGCO in Dothan

The hottest tractor on the market right now in my opinion is a Mahindra. They have their act together. Sold by Thompson Cat locally.

Funny you say that cause my dad always said tractors were made to be red.

, I don't know about the ones built in the last 5-8 years but my family has always owned Ferguson and then massy Ferguson and now massy. Plus unless you get into the big stuff the area ( guys farming thousands of acres) l'm from was mostly massy, case, and a few Ford, New Holland and old Allis Chalmers, farmalls , etc. I believe dealer support is probably the reason these things are regional. Most farmers I know really don't like Kubota tractors. One told me recently that they go cheaper in our area because of reputation. Probably has to do with dealer support.

I've been looking at the green tractors pretty hard and may still get one at the right price but that is the challenge finding one at the right price. I really want a 5045e or 5055e 4x4 with loader but can't find a 5055e for a reasonable price and the 5045e don't come with shuttle shift that I'd really like to have.

We have a 1963 MF at the camp. You can let it sit for 6 months and it fires right on up. I've been around quite a few newer tractors servicing them about 10 years ago. At that time, John Deere seemed to be better but since I have been able to afford a few John Deere machines here lately, I will never buy another one. Hence one of the reasons I am partial to Mahindra.

Have a 9 yr old mf 1643 with no issues.

JDs were all hydrostatic trans in the size I got, and I did not want that.

I was not impressed by the kubuta dealer.

No regrets.

When I bought mine I bought the dealer as much as the tractor. Just make sure you get one the way you want it, and the size you want. It is amazing how diffrent people are on what they like on a tractor. Some folks wouldn't have one with a hydrostatic transmission, and I wouldn't have one without it.

The folks who hate hydrostatic transmissions never spent much time on one. If they did, they would love them too.

Only exception would be on a dedicated row crop tractor.

Are you price shopping them vs Kubota or whoever their main competitor is?

Last tractor shopping I did was between a Deere 5055e and a Kubota m6060. Deere was a couple grand cheaper than the comparable Kubota, but the Kubota dealer here in town is better overall. The engine in the Kubota is a bit higher in overall displacement, too, so it was worth the extra money IMO.

I bought a 1540 4wd loader with power shuttle trans new in 2009 to use in the woods at the club. It was a great Tractor for its intended purpose. I could run the loader all day and not be worn out. It’s not as heavy as a mahindra. The power shuttle trans is nice. I didn’t have any trouble with mine. I sold it a couple years ago due to the lack of use. Only draw back is lack of dealer support. I ordered all my maintenance online.

We bought a new 471 a few years ago and I hate it. It was mainly bought for thenhayfield and other than that all its good for is pulling a bush hog. I would never buy another Massey.

We owned an old MF 135. It was a great tractor. I don’t know anything about the new ones. I know they have expanded their dealer base in the last couple of years.

Didn’t theyalmost go out of business about 15 years ago?
