Bain Sr has passed, Bain Jr. is SJ's Son. They have messed up some poachers in the day.

Story I got was he and the poacher got to fighting and Bain's wife shot the guy.
this^^^ is what Mr. Bain told me after it was all over. I believed him then and still do. At one time after Freds death in a truck rollover I had permission to hunt all of Bains property and keys to all the gates.

The Henderson's in Wilcox County are nice hard working people. I have surveyed some of their property and they seem to take good care of the land they own. Never had an ill word with them.
Mind you, it is improper and just flat out wrong to gossip about people on the internet, which is exactly what is going on with this thread.

It's a long story best left where it is...in the past! If it's been investigated and the law said it was justified then whats the harm in telling the tale? Saying chit like this and Skinny's little comment make it sound like they might have got away with something they shouldnt have done.

I ran with a fella named Roy Bonner from Camden that I met at Auburn. He was close friends with Bains son Fred. I hunted a good bit with Fred over the years, and helped him some working at the farm at Millers Ferry. When I hunted Wilcox Co I spent prolly half my time helping do everyday work chores with folks I hunted with, stayed at their houses, ate at their tables. They were, and are, the salt of the earth as far as I am concerned. Good , hard working folks that treated me like family. I would go down and stay at Roys mommas house in town when Roy was out of town duck hunting. I tried my best to talk my wife into moving to Camden but she didn't want to go that far from Birmingham.

Ralph and Olivia Martin were two of the finest folks I have ever met. I used to carry Little Ralph turkey hunting when he was young. Fine , fine folks. Miss Olivia is probably my favoriteSouthern Lady.
I used to turkey hunt her place on 41 north of Camden on Pine Barren Creek, the Jean Watts place. LOTS of turkeys.

I used to turkey hunt her place on 41 north of Camden on Pine Barren Creek, the Jean Watts place. LOTS of turkeys. We used to lease 1800 acres from Olivia Martin in the mid 80's. The land was up 41 about nine miles north of Camden. That place was full of deer and turkey. David Gaston was the overseer of the lease and claimed the turkey rights.

Are they the ones who have the barb wire/fence in the river to keep you out of their fishing hole? Yep, They were deeded the gravel pit when the reservoir was being built. They have since sold most of the property around it though.

David makes some great calls and a great guy to conversate with.

Danny, my truck burned a front axle bearing right near Ralph and Olivias house one night. Night of Jan 1 to be exact, about 3 in the morning. Wasn't going to make Camden on it so I just pulled over in front of their house and slept in the truck till daylight. Bout 7 er so I walked up to the house and knocked on the door. Miss Olivia answered and ushered me inside. When she heard I had slept in the truck she bout skinned me alive for not coming up to the house and waking her. Sat me down and fixed me breakfast. Ralph and I went down to the truck and looked it over, then called the Chevrolet place owner Johnny Webb at 9am on Jan 1 to meet us at the dealership. Ralph drove us to camden, met Johnny and got the part, then back to Ralphs house. We moved the truck to Ralphs shop and Ralph replaced the bearing. Back to the house to say goodbye to Miss Olivia and on my way to Camden. Lord Mercy, there ain't many folks as fine as Ralph and Olivia in the is world. I count my blessings I could call them friends.

Ralph and Olivia Martin were two of the finest folks I have ever met. I used to carry Little Ralph turkey hunting when he was young. Fine , fine folks. Miss Olivia is probably my favoriteSouthern Lady. I went to school with Ralph Jr when we were in elementary school at Catherine Academy. His mom Mrs Olivia was the most quintessential example of a proper southern lady I have ever met in my life. Always wore white gloves and a hat. Spoke with the most aristocratic sounding southern accent you ever heard. When I would go home with Ralph after school she would ask us what we wanted for supper and then call ahead to home on the CB radio (this was waaaay before cell phones) and tell the maid what to start cooking us for supper. Always seemed so odd to me to see such a proper southern lady with white gloves on talking into a CB radio. LOL! Fine people. Ralph switched to Wilcox Academy later on and I didn't see him for quite a while. Ran into him years ago at a NWTF banquet.
The best index to a person’s character is (a) how he treats people who can’t do him any good, and (b) how he treats people who can’t fight back. - Abigail van Buren

My Daddy and a handful of Others formed a club about halfway between Selma and Camden down 41....in 1968....10,000 acres of Miller Lumber Co. land....mostly bordering the River....Elm Bluff Hunting Club was Born. Bucks weighing 230 to 250 were common....with HUGE MASS. Biggest was a 317 BRUTE taken on a Dog Drive in 1971. Soybean was king and pressure was light back then....very few folks hunted during the week...... I hunt on a portion of that property now.
