Posting for a friend. He has big block headed silver lab he is wanting to find the right female to breed for pick of the litter. His dog is out of William Crawfords Silver banded retrievers "Tank".
The dog is a great dog, loves to hunt, with great temperament. Tiger weighs about 75#s. I don't know how to post pics on here so if you want to see him I can send you pics. PM me any info. Thanks!

You may just have a flashing envelope. It’s a forum glitch that Leroy is working on.

Silvers are not real labs as they carry a recessive dd dilute gene that does not show up in purebred labs. These silver "labs" have a lot of health problems and are not even allowed in field trials. Please tell your friend not to breed him and spread the dilute gene!

Please quote the rulebook that disqualifies silver labs from competing. I judge AKC and HRC hunt tests and haven't seen it yet.

Sure AKC isn't doing anything about the silvers, as long as your check clears I'm sure they could care less if the dilute gene is spreading, UKC is a different story and will be the only club with true purebred labrador in the long run, if you can show me a UKC registered HRC titled silver I would really like to see it!

The dog "Tank" mentioned in the first post has his HR and maybe HRCH.

Most of the silver labs trace their lineage to Kulo Farms kennels. They also bred weimeramer. The registries still register the dogs as labs.

If my breeding standards were used, there wouldn't be a lot of labs, all of them would be black and they would cost more than a used truck.

I was going to ask you to look that up. I knew tank had past a lot of tests but I didn’t know enough about all that to speak. He’s a beast, I have hunted with him and his owner a couple of times and he’s got a drive like I’ve never seen. His son Amos my buddies first dog was just like tank but he was hit by a car. But tiger is Amos wound brother but a much calmer dog but still a great dog.

The old Kellogg Kennels which was famous for their pointing labs also had ties to the Weimaraners which was thought to have contributed to the "pointer' ability of their labs.

Black, yellow, chocolate...thats the colors labs come in..
