Other folks knock em, but I've had good luck with 2 different FIMCO sprayers. And parts/diagrams are easy to get if needed.

I use a 16 gallon Northstar. Used it for 6 years. Pump is still solid. But the plastic valves and wand handle will only last a couple years if you store it in a non temperature controlled environment.

I've gone through two northstar wands; now replaced with a sturdier unit got off amazon. The valve for the boomless has been replaced once and the current one is stuck open so I ran a metal valve in line that fixed it. Also on my second on off switch.

If you need replacement parts, Northern Tool sells most everything they put on the sprayers and have been helpful and reasonable on price when I've called in for parts.

All that being said I am hard on stuff and it still works well.

The key to getting sprayers to last is to get every drop of water out of them before storing for the winter. Who made it doesn't matter - if it freezes with water in it, it's going to burst. I've had a Northern sprayer for about 15 years. I had a couple of the cutoff valves to freeze and break before I started being careful about it. The last couple of years I have started putting rv antifreeze in it and I haven't lost one lately.

The cutoffs are the weak link on the Northern, probably on all of them. I keep several on hand so I always have a replacement.

I just do that. It's cheap. Keep a few gallons on hand at all times and winterize in the fall.

No question. Mine is stored dry. It's the extreme heat and cold getting to mine, causing the plastic to crack. Really don't have a place in the house to store it, so I keep patching it up.

The o-ring on the valves is what has given me trouble, they get out of the channels and the valves stick.

They really are quality units. As I said I am hard on things.

X4 on the North Star sprayer. My only gripe is I wish I had bought the 25 gal instead of the 16 gal.

I'm looking to add a boomless rig to my sprayer, as well. Thanks for the heads up about the negatives of the North Star.

I have a polaris side by side, and i have 40gal. tank on mine with a boomless tip attached to a pole that slides into my receiver hitch. I can't remember the name brand but i bought it locally here in Dothan. The website is here: agspray.com

I've had mine since 2012 and it works great.

How long is the cable that has the power on/off switch for the pump on it on those Northstar sprayers?

I built mine from a boomless nozzle tip I ordered online ($15 maybe). It will cover about 15 feet, I just bought a couple feet of hose and 2 hose clamps, build a wood frame that holds the nozzle tip. I "might" have 20 bucks in the whole setup.

Mine looks like this:
https://www.amazon.com/NorthStar-Br...nection/dp/B000JFGU2S?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_3

But of course I already had the sprayer. I have a tractor supply 25 gal (pump went out last year replaced it with one from amazon). I also have a spotlyte 15 gal that is about 25 years old, the original pump on it is about to crap out on me. It will lose prime if I go over a bump too fast.

The place is called ag spray. It is actually where they make all kinds of spray rigs. It’s on hwy 84 east of Dothan. I think they can build any application you need not just what is on the website. Or at least they did for me when I got mine. I think I got like 300 bucks in my rig. I wish I had it hooked up I could take pics of the setup, but it’s in storage right now.

Here is the bracket I slide into my receiver hitch. The bracket I bought at academy sports, but the boom less tip and clamp come from ag spray and you can see the tank in the back ground.

Most of them you can add an extension to that you can buy? I just cut it and added more wire that I had in the shop
