Got to my spot a little early this morning sitting in the truck just waiting on the sun. Good luck to everyone that can make it out this morning.

Well it was quiet in my neck of the woods today. Heck couldn't even ambush one lol. Nothing but hens. Maybe they will talk a little tomorrow.

Yeah we heard 1 "maybe" gobble at daybreak, then managed to walk 5 or 6 miles without hearing or seeing a thing. I have some behind the house that are always around a big Greenfield. I was planning on waiting to hunt them but decided why not and of course not a peep or anything to be seen. My buddy who was with me got home and walks up on 5 right behind his house. Oh well back to work tomorrow and then off for 7.

Well we struck out today. Me and a buddy always take a 3-4 day trip at his place just below Montgomery. Last 2 years we have killed 3 in 4 days but we have our work cut out. They all have a bunch of hens. Heard plenty of gobbling today and saw some birds but nothing close enough. Going to get a little more aggressive tomorrow. Maybe we can seal the deal on a couple. Good luck to everyone this week!!

Still waiting on that first gobble. I know birds are here but they are not in the mood still in the winter flocks. Sitting here waiting on the sun rise.

Same story. Quiet this morning. Glad I didn't waste my vacation for opening week.

We heard 4 this morning but only about 3 gobbles each. We wound up having 3 Jake's get to about 10 yards and saw 7 hens later. They just weren't feeling it this morning hopefully itll pick up a little the next few days.

I went yesterday and heard a few but they weren’t ready to die.
My son and his buddy killed one yesterday morning, they should start acting a little better this week with this warmer weather

Yeah, I figure by the weekend itll be getting a good bit better. Came really close this afternoon to a double but they wouldnt clear some really thick brush on the field edge. Had 3 Jake's come flying in and land in the trees above us, then fly back to the field just to fly back the next time we called.

Man it’s been a tough 3 day stretch here. Gobbling has not been a problem necessarily. They are henned up as bad as I’ve seen them at his place. We’ve been making this trip and many others for several years. We’ve never had a trip without a kill and it’s not looking good. Our streak will come to an end unless we can get it done in the morning. Nothing has gone the way we needed it to. Even tried to catch them coming back to roost this evening and the neighbor shot just across the property line at 6pm. The upside is even if he killed one; there are 3 and he busted up the flock. We heard them go everywhere so maybe we can get between them in the morning. Be back on my places later this week. Maybe things will be better there.

Congrats Redhead!!!

Well, first bird that was ready to die came dang near running in with 4 Jake's but wound up 15 yards behind us. He eventually walked off but came back when I called and my buddy clean missed him at 15 yards. He flew up and sat a while then flew back down with Jake's and hens and went back to strutting. They weren't very interested in coming back over for some reason lol. Oh well at least he didn't wound him and know just where to find him.

Congrats on the kills. I'm back at work for 3 days but will get 6 off. Just got word that they are finally starting to gobble just a few times on the limb so I should have better luck by the time I'm off. I'm glad to because I can't stand deer hunting a turkey.

Me and little man headed to camp for the next couple days in the morning. More to spend time just the 2 of us but to do some hunting too. Nothing much going on up here but we will be out there regardless. Off to Texas next weekend for the northern opener.

It was the best gobbling morning of the year by far for me. I went blind to a lease I got in a while back but hadnt hunted. There were quite a few birds gobbling their heads off this morning. This guy was roosted on the edge of a fresh cutover and managed to find him on the limb and watch him fly down. There was a fire break around the hill that went right to him so I was able to slip in tight to where he flew down. Didnt take but a minute from there. [Linked Image]
