I bought an old-style used rear-tine Troy-bilt last year. It runs fine....and should the engine die...you can get a replacement for about $250.00. They are the real-deal heavyweight machine....not the lightweight new stuff.

Troy built or the most 3xpensive one you feel comfortable throwing away. Just like a lawn mower.

We had an old walk behind that was like a tank, awesome piece of machinery.
How somebody stole that thing is beyond me, it was like picking up a car.

We always used front tine and had an acre garden. This year i bought an older craftsman front tine for 60 bucks. I couldnt believe they only wanted 60. Runs great.

I love front tine.

Rear is too long and eats up storage. Sucks to turn around. I just dont need all that hassle. I will never own a rear but thats me.

I just got an older Troy bilt, ran it for a while today. Poured gas in it and pulled it twice and it fired right up. It needs some carb work, runs smooth as a whistle with choke on but runs out of gas when choke is off.
Looks like there is a belt missing on the drive pto on the back of the engine and the one on there slips real bad.
Any of y’all replaced these belts? Is there anything to adjust after replacing them?

I found me an older true value lawn chief..i paid $70 for it. Other than i broke the pull cord yesterdy its been a goodun..i like the looks of them big troy builts..we also vot some of the little mantis tillers at work for turnin flower beds..one of them or one like it might do just fine if you aint got to big a garden spot...wouldnt be to rough to keep up with as they aint much heavier than a weed eater.

In good soil, I much prefer a front tine to a rear tine.
