Thats impossible, all the does were killed! This will continue until all does have been bred. I've seen them around Troy during turkey season. Guess all the reports of all the does being killed were fake news.

In Alabama you are subject to see rubs, scrapes , chasing or breeding anytime from when a buck sheds velvet till they cast antlers in Spring.

I had a buck chasing and grunting at a doe in Kentucky mid January.

If your deer rut in late Jan then it's about time for the second rut to kick in. The does that didn't get bred the first round should go back into estrous soon. I imagine there's scraping from the bucks just prior to this happening the same way it happens before the primary rut. It's really not that crazy.

Do we have fawns come into estrous their first year during the spring??

Not uncommon where we hunt to see bucks still carrying both sides of their rack the first couple weeks of turkey season. Guess they don't drop until does are all bred. we have a bunch of does so it appears to take a while.

Stickers antlers are not controlled by the rut. A buck can breed 365 days a year, it's the doe in estrous that gets things started. A buck can breed without antlers.

Why do they take 9 days off per year?

I got a picture of what would have been a big 6ptr, if he had both sides of his rack, chasing a does on the 24th. He's really run down. You can see his ribs and his tail bone in the picture.

I haven't really seen anything here that looked like a second rut. I think most of them got bred the first time and any that got missed is so few and far between that it's barely noticeable. It should be happening right now......
