... That inspired this meal. grin I honestly think we have about as much Italian blood in us as Elisabeth Warren has Cherokee, but that doesn't stop us from cooking Italian grub.

Mrs. Irish had the day off so she slow cooked some Italian sausage ragu. I got home and hit the gym downstairs and headed upstairs for a glass or two of Fancy Pants Cabernet. We decided to serve it with angel hair pasta. I sliced up some Italian bread and grilled it in olive oil with a little seasoning thrown in there for good measure. Meanwhile Mrs. Irish made us a nice salad with hearts of palm and her homemade balsamic vinaigrette dressing.

Well...

Mrs. Irish has been cutting back on the carbs too, that's why she wanted to make this. I think she was craving. grin

I know a lot of folks post on here and think that we both should weigh 400 pounds, but here's the thing...

We both are slightly overweight for our height, but we are both pretty healthy to be in our late 50's
We both work out (Strength training, cardio, walking...) several times a week.
We both eat very wholesome foods.
All the foods you see us cook are usually made with the freshest ingredients we can find.
We rarely eat any processed foods.
We never buy packaged stuff or pre-made stuff.
We rarely eat fast food and rarely eat out in general.
We don't drink soft drinks.
We don't eat much sugar or desserts if any.
The food you see us cook, we package all that up after every meal into single servings and then take that for lunches so we don't have to eat out for breakfast or during the week. And that saves us a lot of money too...

We also package up a lot of our food that we make and once a week take "care packages" up to Mrs. Irish's mom so she can have good tasting, healthy food to eat for the week. She's 85, lives alone and is losing her mind, so she can use all the help we can give her. grin

Looks good. I’m 50% Italian and can cook some jam up gravy (sketti sauce) as we call it. Takes most of the day. My favorite is penne a la vodka. That salad looks damn good too
