Last few years grass in garden gets worse and worse. Before I break the garden this year I need a plan to fight the grass and keep it out. Any suggestions on what I need to do to keep it from taking over? I can’t keep up with it.
The only reason I hunt ducks is to watch the dogs work.

Mulch or grass herbicide put in preplant. You can also get a small propane torch and burn the weeds as they come up. How big an area do you have and are you fighting grass or sedges? There is lots of options out there once you know what you're fighting. I like the torch, doesn't matter what it is it burns it.

Probably about 15 yd by 15 yd plot. And it’s grass not sedge. Want to make sure whatever I do doesn’t hurt the garden plants.

A one gallon spray pump and tape you a funnel on the end of the wand and a 1% gly salution. Put funnel on the ground and circle the plants. Stay about 4" away from the plants and spray all the area between plants. All you have to pull is the little bit of grass at base of plants. Our garden is almost 2 acres and this is what I do on most of it. Make sure the wind is calm and you should be ok.

The reason the grass is there is because it takes advantage of when you are not there. Just keep that in mind. Try to stay away from herbicides. You never know what will make you sick nowadays. Gather up or buy a bunch of pine straw and spread it out as thick as you can, then burn it. Turn the soil over, spread pine straw, burn it again. Do that all winter long. Only way I can keep the gripe weed away is doing that. Now if you have nutgrass, you're just screwed.

in my tomato garden it's only 25'x25' I lay out a soaker hose and cover the whole garden in black plastic then just cut a hole where I plant it also saves me on having to water so much. do not use clear it acts like a green house and heats the soil to much.
