Yeah. I fell in love with it in the walnut stock. When I got it home I realized I’d never take it to the woods for fear of beating the stock up. It now rides in an ugly black Hogue overmold stock, but I don’t have to worry about it. The factory stock is wrapped up and safely stored

Look at gunskinz wrap if you want to protect the barrel and action from scuffs and scrapes. Its removable and wont hurt the finish.

That’s some good shooting Doc.I’ve got one in 270win I bought about 10years ago. I said the same thing about not scratching it up. I put one ding in it and said to hell with it. I’ve hunted pretty hard with it since and don’t think I’ve hardly put a mark on it. It will flat out stack 130gr AccuBonds. It’s one of the most accurate factory 700s I’ve had.

Gundoc, has Remington figured out their QC problems? That's the group a 700 is supposed to shoot.

That's great man,but I always like to see how one does with 10 shots. Shoot them slow if needed but 10 always tells the full story.

And,yes I've posted several 3 shot groups, but I do prefer 10 now or at least 5 several times on different targets. I suppose 3-4 ,3 shot groups tell about the same thing though.

Yeah, I told my buddy who was with me yesterday that I can’t shoot as well as I once could.

At one time all 3 would be touching.

Personally, I’ve never owned or shot a Remington 700 that wouldn’t do that. I’ve seen some that had issues, but they were not near as common as what I’ve read about.

Mine still has the factory XMP trigger in it. I tuned it and got it breaking at a crisp 2.5# and think I’m gonna save the money and not worry with a Timney

That’s gotta be photoshopped. You know the new Remingtons won’t do that. Lol

Good shooting.

Thanks Doc, that's good to hear. I've always liked a Remington. I had some issues with a 7600 feeding (which Remington fixed) and like you said was "reading about other issues" in other models. I've been wanting a new 700, believe I may try one.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a new Remington. A buddy of mine had one of the $379.00 700 ADL's from Academy. With his hand loads, he can put together groups as good or better that mine above.

I personally saw a Christensen Ridgeline at Simmons this past Saturday, that had to go back to Christensen, and was told of another they had to send back a couple months ago. A scope could not be zeroed on either because the barrel was not straight on the first one, and I suspect the same problem with the one I handled. Christensen made the first one right and probably will the second, but using the same Remington hating logic I've read on the interwebs, Christensen is JUNK!!!

I don't believe that myself, it just goes to show, mass produced rifles will have issues from time to time.

I bet that’s a sharp rifle! I love a 700. I snagged a 243 adl at academy for $299 a couple months ago. It really likes fusions! I plan on buying an adl in 6.5 pretty soon!

I've had highly touted gunsmiths build total pieces of junk, screw the barrel in crooked, the whole nine. Some of y'all would likely get butthurt if I started naming names.

If you get one that shoots good you have better just hang on to it. Doesn't matter who's name is stamped on the side of it.
