They seem to be putting out a pretty good product.

It's interesting to watch a bunch of guys play football that make less money than I do.

We watched the Birmingham game on Saturday and then watched most of the San Antonio vs Orlando game yesterday. Birmingham vs Salt Lake was a defensive game, but the Orlando vs San Antonio game was pretty exciting and fun to watch.

Give Spurrier a level playing field with everyone else and the dude can still coach. What is he... Like 80 now?

Born in 1945 so he'll be 74 this year. Still with it too.

Bringing home 250k a year? No wonder you eat so good...

Edit: Nevermind, I looked at it wrong. Hell, I make more than they do too... that does seem odd.

Yeah... It works out to about $83k a year. I think the XFL is going to pay something like $75 per year. And I think the XFL is going to take underclassmen.

They’re paid $70k the first year, $80k the second, and $100k the third.

The XFL wont be around long enough to take underclassman.

OK. It appears the story about the AAF not being able to make payroll was fake news...

https://www.al.com/sports/2019/02/birmingham-iron-gm-joe-pendry-aafs-finances-are-fine.html

It apparently was a glitch because they switched payroll administrators. (A third party company that administrates their payroll.)

More on the story...

Apparently the Dundon guy wanted in and he was just buying onto the league. And apparently he's pretty business savvy...

"'It’s so early into this. We’re all in the entertainment business, so we’re just making sure to continue to do what they have done, which is put out a quality product people want to watch and consume, and hopefully we have the capital in place to take advantage of new opportunities. Things are a lot easier when you have got the capital and connections to execute.'

Dundon also is the co-founder of Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, home of the PGA Tour’s AT&T Byron Nelson tournament; the majority owner of Employer Direct Healthcare, a health care services company; and a primary investor in Topgolf, a sports entertainment company."

CBS Sports
NFL Network
TNT

All three of those networks carry the games.

Usually there are 2 games on Saturday and 2 games on Sunday.

Just Google... "AAF Schedule"

I don't believe this for a second. If he wanted in so badly why wait until after the first week to drop $250 million into it?

New leagues and minor leagues, which is what the AAF is, lose money, especially early. If Dundon is so savvy he'd have jumped in from the get-go.

PR people spin good news out of bad. Always have. The B'ham team GM isn't going to say shinola about bad finances, struggling, losing money, the shitty attendance or anything negative. He's like politicians -- say whatever you want people to believe over and over and over and move on.
