To all the umps i've given grief the last 6 years...i sincerely appologize. I really do. You may have been right, you may have been wrong...dont matter. I'm sorry for saying a word. I'm gonna call this year. We've had a weekly meeting since new years. I had no idea of some of the mechanics involved...and the speed of the game ramps x10 inside the fence. I sure hope karma (and i havent been THAT bad) doesn't come back to bite me.

I’ll pass on the advice that my umpiring mentor told me.
“Call strikes, and outs. Not balls and safes”
And my advice. Games not fast if your in the proper position, bust your butt to get to where you need to be, and then make the call. Don’t get caught watching
And pay is great. I used to do youth tournys and Disney Wide world of sports. 1:45 time limit. $80/ game. Did games at 8, 10,12,2, and 4. Could make $1000 a weekend

When I was calling games a very good veteran umpire taught me many things, Two of the most important were, 1). when calling a game, half the people are going to think you are wrong, so don't get rabbit eared over it and 2). When you make your call, always act as if you are right and you know it. If you want to admit to a coach you may have missed it, do it after the game not while he is on the field in your ass..
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

^^^^ Already had those bits of advise given to me  We had a district camp Saturday (reason I started thread) and there was a play where a guy got caught watching and didn't move to get in position. Only major flub up I saw. It's gonna be a good year.
