Got a nasty case of NCAAitis for allowing a tutor to do student athletes class work.


Sanctions:


Three years of probation.

A 10-year show-cause order for the former tutor. During that period, any NCAA member school employing the tutor must restrict her from any athletically related duties.

A 2018-19 postseason ban for the baseball and softball programs.

A 2019-20 postseason ban for the football program.

A vacation of records in which football, baseball and softball student-athletes competed while ineligible. The university must provide a written report containing the matches impacted to the NCAA media coordination and statistics staff within 45 days of the public decision release.

A 5 percent reduction in the amount of scholarships in each of the football, baseball and softball programs during the 2019-20 academic year.

Recruiting restrictions for each of the football, baseball and softball programs during the 2019-20 academic year, including:

A seven-week ban on unofficial visits.

A 12.5 percent reduction in official visits.

A seven-week ban on recruiting communications.

A seven-week ban on all off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations.

A 12.5 percent reduction in recruiting-person or evaluation days.

A disassociation of the tutor. Details of the disassociation can be found in the public report (self-imposed by the university).

A fine of $5,000 plus 1 percent of each of the football, baseball and softball budgets.

I bet Kelly Bryant is kicking himself for choosing Mizzou over Auburn now.

You have to be really stupid to get caught these days. NCAA is only a shadow of its former self from the days when they dropped the hammer on Dumbose and Bammer.

I have a very strong suspicion this goes on at MANY more places than just Columbia.

NCAA needed to hammer an SEC school to keep everything nice and even among all the power 5 conferences so they chose one of the SEC schools that doesnt really belong there anyway and dropped Thor's hammer on them. This crap goes on every single day at all the major D1 programs. Penalties imposed are ridiculous. Coaches can have bag men deliver bags of cash to recruits, arrange for hooker escorts on recruiting visits, lie to the NCAA and they get a 2 or 3 year show cause. Then they attend Saben's coaching rehab program for a year or two and relax for a little while, then they pop up as a head coach again making millions somewhere else in 3 years. And the tutor got 10 years????????????????????? NCAA is JOKE

She did it on her own. Rumor is she slept with at laeast one of the students too. 1st tried to extort the university and then tried to sell her story to the STL post dispatch. After she was fired she set up.a go fund me page to support her. Truely a piece of work. NCAA stated they found no evidence that she was directed to do it. I'm sure this goes on, but how is an institution suppose to stop true cheaters. If they are caught you fire them and remove the player from competition which is exactly what happened here.

Full disclosure, both my wife and I worked as tutors at Mizzou. I even did it full time for a semester after a funding issue. The preaching and reminders of proper conduct were constant. Hell, you couldn't even be in the same room during practice quizes that didn't even count for grades. And I had a ton of the high profile guys so they weren't playing favorites. Hate it for all those kids that did it the right way...guess the university should have just made up fake classes and gave them A's

By the way...most students tutor because it gets you free tickets for all events. Only a few tutor more than 1 or 2 hours a week. So it saves you the $280ish and used to pay $10/hr.

A few I noticed did it to act cool like they knew the athletes...seemed like they were watched. You weren't allowed to meet your assigned athletes outside the academic building, even socially. But that was hard to police

My wife tutored some when she was in school. Said MOST (not all) the female tutors were cleat chasers. And yes, a lot of them did all the work for the athletes. Of course, my angel didnt.

Really? How many QBs does Bama have in the Pros? One, the same number as Auburn.

He didn’t say he was going to Alabama to make it to the NFL, he said he was going to Missouri. What does Alabama have to do with a choice between Missouri and Auburn? The guy wants to play in the NFL, Missouri has a better track record getting QBs there than Auburn. They also have a better record than Alabama, although that has no factor in this discussion at all since they were not one of his options or choices.

Umm.... can we please compare these two schools preparing players in general for the NFL. I know one of the schools mentioned in your post (Bama) leads by far the number of players on NFL rosters. I don't think any Aubie wants to discuss developing talent. AU is a place 5 stars go to become 3 stars where a 3 star can go to Bama and become a 1st rounder.

Alabama overtook LSU this past year. Currently it's 44 former Bama players on NFL rosters vs 40 for LSU.


Auburn is tied with Georgia at 9'th in the nation with 28 which isn't too shabby.

So, 4 out of the last 5 are going to get paid. Look at Daniel's career earnings. I think they might take the all time record for earnings per snap.

Not exactly true. He came out in the media after his career was over, but he stated when he announced that his teammates and coaches had known since the previous August, before his senior season at Mizzou.

Oh boy, I bet that Professor that stirred the racial pot a few years ago is infuriated knowing that her own institution of higher learning is actually barring the transfer of knowledge to many student athletes, most of whom I would think are minorities.
