POTUS Trump will be speaking at 2PM CST today. I suspect he's going to say that he's declaring a National Emergency, ordering the COE to build the wall and opening the guvment up as of Monday morning. I may be wrong BUT whatever he says, the Dems will be against.

My Mother was civil service for 28 years and went through several shutdowns. It was pretty much treated like a vacation. An overwhelming majority of federal workers, except minorities, will vote Republican.

The Budget allotment Trump is asking for is let’s say around 1/10 of 1% of the Federal Government funding for A Year. But I’m not much older than you so you have to remember the thousands of farmers in the seventies that lost their pay because of a democrat president. Not only did they lose their pay. They lost their lively hood, land and homes that have been in their family for generations. It never came back. I not only had friends this affected but family members as well.

I have co-workers with sick kids, parents, and just other every day Life things that they may be living pay check to pay check over right now. In my profession any day could be your last, and it's bulldoodoo that we don't get paid when we have to work. But, we will take care of our own, Democrat and Republicans, cause when we throw on our stuff and get ready to rock, we are family.

If everyone has been keeping up with the news lately it was reported a couple days ago that the Dems strategy is not only to block wall funding but to block everything Trump is trying to do. They want it to get so bad that Trumps base will want to vote for someone else to stop all the nonsense . Trump will have to use every executive action he can for the next 2 years to accomplish anything because people were lazy and didn’t get out to vote in November. I can’t see how any can blame Trump for doing his best to keep his campaign promises when he’s been fighting to keep them since he was elected and now the fight is even harder.

Well if Congress would actually pass a balanced budget and not do constant Continuing Resolutions that expire in months in lieu of a real budget...then none of this would be happening in the first place. It's been going on for decades but has been really bad the last decade.

I know I’m a lurker, but every one is saying that the ones who are on shutdown or furloughed will get back pay. That is about half true. I am a government contractor and I will not be receiving any back pay at all. I have been furloughed from before Christmas and luckily I have had enough vacation time built up that is has been floating my family’s bills ( both my wife and I work at the same location but different contractors). And she has used all of her vacation time. It’s a crappy deal but we’ve been through this before in 2012. We’ll make it.

But they would give up an enormous amount of power and leverage if they did that. This is the first time in the history of our republic that they're being called out on their scheme.
