LIve from Freedom Hills today. I had no idea this many people gun hunted during the week. They need to get a job. I guess it’s because the ruts kicking. Finally I arrived at spot number 5 and nobody was here. It was breaking daylight as I was walking in. I’m hunting red oaks and 4 scrapes this morning for a buck only with restrictions gun hunt with my bow. Thank goodness I have put in the scouting homework or I would be back at camp sitting by the fire. I have about 8 spots scouted, and they all have plenty of sign, so I should be in good shape. The first gun hunter I talked to said he only had one spot picked out, so I guess that was a hint for me to get my azz out of there. Well shoot, looks like I was early, because I got somebody driving in on me now. Oh my goodness he is going to block one of the trails I’m hunting with his truck. I never hunt WMA on gun hunt days unless I’m on the opposite zone that is bow only, but said to myself everybody’s at work, boy was I wrong. I’m in a good area so I’m going to hold tight and see what happens. Oh yeah my boats tore up........ good luck y’all.

Been a heck of a morning so far. I have seen seven so far with a spike chasing does all over in here. No shooters yet, but I got two dang good decoys. They look real don’t they............ I will be back shortly.....

The deer are up eating red oaks now. I just watched a pileated woodpecker get chased by a small hawk, I guess the woody was making to much noise. I sure am hungry! All my food is in the truck and I hate to get down. I have watched a big doe & button head work two scrapes in here this morning, now I need a shooter to slide in here to check them out.

Well things are still hot in here. Just had a big doe run through and a 1 1/2 old spike hot on her tail and then a huge buck bringing up the rear lagging behind about 150 yards, but it was a spike also. A trophy spike if I might add. He was every bit of 4 1/2 years old.

That Sparrow Hawk is still messing with woody woodpecker. He only attacks in flight. Once woody has his feet planted and pecking away he won’t mess with him. I guess he is scared of that beak?

The wind has swirled all morning, but with me on top of this mountain my thermals have been rising.

Ok I finally got my belly full now I’m going back up the mountain to the redoaks again. I moved my stand 50 Yards. Probably a mistake, but I found a red oak they are hitting better than the one I was hunting this morning. I’m guessing I will get blown at multiple times this afternoon. Good luck y’all.

I’m set up on a slough, imin a water oak flat with a 2 yo cutover next to me. Tons of sign in here, I got my climber set up only to realize my safety belt is in the truck, so I’m in a makeshift hunting blind. Good luck and stay safe.
