Well Ada started out Friday night with a long track on a doe. She was shot and right after shot hunter said it started raining pretty hard. He got down and couldnt find his arrow but found 2 drops of blood about the size of a half dollar each, placed a hat on top and called us. I get there and turn Ada loose and she runs down a hill right where hunter said deer traveled. She then goes into one of the nastiest clearcuts imaginable. I told the hunter and his buddy I want to see blood before I venture off into that jungle. I call Ada back and we go back to the 2 drops of blood. Sure enough she takes the same course to the clearcut, we all slow down a bit and start finding blood. Then Ada proceeds to go into a briar thicket so thick I figured a rabbit wouldnt go through. Well low and behold we find some more blood. Ada presses on and we are deep into this clearcut continuing to find blood. After about 2 miles according to the garmin we find his doe piled up. The shot had entered the back ham and came out right by her utters. It was a long drag to where we would get the trucks but we made it, got home about 1:30am Saturday morning covered in beggar lice and briars.

So Saturday rolls around and I am on babysitting duty with the 4month old while my wife goes to a bday party with our 6yo. I watch the Bama game, thank God for TEVO, and get a phone call from a guy whose son had shot his first deer ever, the dad said he found blood and started trailing and jumped the deer and backed out immediately. I told him I could come that night but best to let him lay and we would try and find him in the morning. he agreed and said he didnt want to push it either. So we arrive Sunday morning about 8am and start tracking, Ada takes off down the hill in the direction he jumped the buck the night before. I told the dad and boys to stand at last blood while Ada did her thing. She gets on down in the bottom a good ways and I notice she is in the same spot, I tell the dad I like that and head her direction, I catch up with her and she is laying in a creek. I said wheres he at girl and she gets out and walks up the hill about 30 yards and looks back at me. I see and antler and think wow she found a shed. Get up to it and she found the deer or what was left of it, the yotes had absolutely cleaned this buck out. They ate every bit of meat off him leaving only the legs, ribs, hooves, and head. That young hunter didnt care and was happy to get his horns. Deer made it another 300yards before the yotes got him or he died.

We were able to get some great picture with a great view in the background.

After that track I was able to make it to church and got a text from a great dear friend and old coworker Nockon, he said that his little girl had shot a doe and he saw gut matter in the blood and backed out. I told him no worries I liked our chances of gut shot deer when not pushed. I told him I would make the 2hr drive over to him, he said really? I said I aint doing it for you Im coming over there for Emma. He sends me a pic of a sad faced little girl thinking she wont find her deer. So we load up and head to South Montgomery. Get there and there is a giant patch of white hair at shot sight and Ada takes off. I told Nockon and his son and daughter to stay at last blood while I catch up to Ada. Well Ada goes up a pretty good hill and Im thinking this deer aint supposed to go uphill being gut shot, well I catch up with her and she is licking the deer. I call for them to come up and stand at last blood while I went and searched. Unbeknownst to Miss Emma the deer was laying about 10 yards in front of her. I tell her you walk this trail and Im gonna walk this trail. Nockon looks at me like huh? I give him a wink and Miss Emma screams I FOUND HER!!!!!!
The look of please bring Ada.

All in all Im tired and covered in briars but we were able to make some memories for young hunters this weekend. This is what its all about.

In the picture of the buck the coyotes got, it appears they didn't eat the guts. I thought that was some of the first part they would go for.
