I guess they are officially done. Just saw an ad saying that to get Craftsmen Tools you will now need to go to Lowes. That was the only thing Sears had going for it in the end.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

And everyone gives a lifetime warranty on tools now, even Walmart.

I noticed lowes sells craftsman now. Can you take your broken ratchet or screwdriver there for an exchange?

Innovate or die.
Sears easily could have been in the drivers seat and the lion share of the e-commerce business, instead, they're a soon to be a worthless penny stock.

They could have been where Amazon is today if the folks in charge 20-25 years ago would have had some forethought.

Yup.

Sears=Remington, old, outdated, no marketing.
Amazon=Hornady., innovative, bringing out new products and telling customers they need them and great marketing.

The Craftsman tool line was sold off to Stanley tools a few years back to raise funds and pay off debt. Sears has been dying a slow death for years.

I've thought about this before, the segue that Sears could have done from the Old famous Sears catalog to an online market mimicking it..... Folks would have flocked to it just for nostalgia. They really missed out on an opportunity.

I asked one of the workers there if the Liftetime Warranty was still honored. He told me it was but that you could only swap a tool at Lowes if it was bought from Lowes. If it was originally bought at Sears, it would have to be sent off to Craftsman to be swapped out. I don’t know if the tools being carried at Lowes will have a special marking or what. If not, who keeps receipts for every tool bought? Sounds like a good way to make folks choose a different brand.

I just saw on FOX NEWS this morning since filing for bankruptcy earlier this year that this month they are handing out millions to top executives for end of year bonuses.

Sears was the "Amazon" of their day with their mail order catalogs.

Sad but true.
Just like the toy store Toys R Us.
And there have been others that failed to modernize and innovate - Kmart, JC Penny, ....

My grandmother worked for Sears in Selma part time in the 80s. Hard to believe how big they were back then compared to today.

I guess I'm part of the problem... I took all the guys on our Christmas list and bought for them and Mrs. Irish took all the gals. I bought everything on my list online except for 2 of Mrs. Irish's presents at a local art gallery, because she likes local artist's type stuff.

In the 60's the Sears book was commonly known as the "wish book". We could spend hours looking thru that big old book dreaming about all those goodies, and when you were thru it went to the outhouse with you to finish out it's career.
